Nba Lives Overrated Defenders

Upon reviewing your newest Roster I think Stephon Marbury, and Steve Francis shouldnt be given the stopper ability, the Knicks are one of the worst defensive teams especially when those 2 are in the game together they become undersized and overmatched. For these reason I think you should strip them of that ability just lower their defensive awareness to a respectable 70 since they are superstars.

And other superstars you should strip should include LeBron, I know I might get some hate for sayin it but how often do you hear people praise LeBrons D compared to the rest of his game. Its not his strong part and everyone knows it, maybe in time but untill NBA Live 2007 or 08 comes out, I think stopper is overdoin it this year. Cant blame EA for tryin to make the game fun but lets make it real Andrew. Lebron no stopper but no slouch either 70 Def Awareness sounds more than fair.

Can't seem to do much right these days. ;) No worries, I certainly appreciate the feedback. (Y)

I don't know about going as low as 70 but perhaps those guys could come down a bit in Defensive Awareness so they're not recognised as stoppers. I'll definitely consider it. :)

i agree, i saw someone on tv talk about lebrons lack of D.
Marbury and Francis have good D?
if anyone Hinrich should be better on D.
This sig was too offensive for the kids.

It's a shame the FSS-system is so messed up. It's obvious that neither of the 2 mentioned players have a very good defensive awareness, but still they are probably able to get a lot of steals, and therefore makes Outside Stopper-like moves IRL.

If only EA had made a system that would reward the defensive player for NOT gambling on defence. IMO the outside Stopper ability is pretty cool, just shouldn't be affected by a players defensive awareness but his speed and stealing ability.

I tried to make a case a while ago that Gerald Wallace should be given BOTH defensive FFS abilities - his case is the same as Francis' and Marbury's.

Well, a little off-topic I guess, just wanted to get it out of my system

Gerald Wallace is someone I have to re-evaluate. I too wish they were based more on independent attributes, so boosting/decreasing wouldn't be necessary/intrusive on FSS assignments.

Hinrich should have good Defense, Alot of players under Scot Skiles should have good defense. Im not sure what Gerald Wallace is rated but hes dominating the defensive stats his ratings should reflect that 2.09Blks and 2.51Stl, his steals ratings should be 90 and his block atleast 80. He blocks more shots than KG.

Speakin of KG shouldnt be an inside stopper, seriously hes a great rebounder but he aint a dominant defensive player. Hes more of an area defender, he can cover alot of ground quickly which leads to a more balanced steals/ blk ratio so if anything an outside stopper would be more suitable for KG (he plays like a perimiter player might as well recognize him). 1.69 stl and 1.74 blks compared to other inside stoppers in this game getting 2+blks a game. Eddie Griffin is a much better shot blocker than KG

Having the Inside Stopper is more reflective of some of the swats KG makes though. He's barely an Inside Stopper with his block rating, for the moment I'd rather leave it. I'll consider it though, I'll give Kirk Hinrich another look as well.

I can, but I won't guarantee any changes at this point.

Yes, thank you, I'm already well aware of that. I'm not exactly new to the forum or patchmaking. ;) As I've explained before I do prefer to give players FSS abilities legitimately through editing their ratings otherwise as soon as the performs a recalculation those abilities will be lost.
