why is his rating low?
Mon Jan 16, 2006 7:21 am
why do you call it low he is in the upper 80s and what do you want him to be 99?
Mon Jan 16, 2006 7:54 am
90+ will do. his the MVP
Mon Jan 16, 2006 7:56 am
his
i think you mean he's and also what is good at besides passing and 3s?
Mon Jan 16, 2006 8:36 am

What does his overall matter? I'll never understand the infatuation that people have with Overalls. As long as each individual category is accurate, that's all that matters. Find a category that you don't agree with, and change it if need be, but Jesus Christ, it's annoying as hell to get several "Why is Player X only an 85 overall? WTF?" posts a day...

Completely agree with you there, though I don't think the problem will cease.

I don't feel it's low. His defensive abilities do not warrant ratings that would put him up in the mid to high 90s. In any case, I do not like to place too much focus on overall ratings as it tends to mess up the individual ratings which in the end are the more important numbers.

I agree with Andrew. I believe Steve Nash's current ratings are accurate.

Man grow up, he is the MVP but how can you make him a outside stopper? He is not that good at stealing, I find his ratings accurate, he performs like he should.
Sun Mar 12, 2006 8:16 am
Nash's overall is fine, you cant make him a stopper cuz he aint good at defence
duhhhhhhh...

I agree, his real ratings shouldn't be changed just to boost his overall rating. Overall ratings are meaningless; they are just calculated using a (stupid) formula that takes every rating into account. For example, Iguodala is far from a star but is highly rated because he gets a lot of help from Defensive Awareness and his athletic ratings.
That said, I think Nash is very overrated in defense. I checked his Defensive Awareness, and it's 73! Nash has a reputation as a poor to subpar defender, and stats like Defensive +/-, etc. tend to support that. I lowered his defensive rating to 50 in my own roster (no worse than some other guards in the game), and his overall was only decreased by 1 point.

I might not go so low as 50 but I agree that 73 is quite high given his reputation and statistical evidence. Thanks.

90+ wtf....
80+ is good enough for him. He`s not a jordan r smt...
MVP r not,he`s not that good.

He needs a high offensive awareness so that he'll average a good amount of assists in simulation.
Tue Mar 21, 2006 3:48 pm
ya steve nash is not a great defender at all, in fact his defensive ratings might be a bit high, the only rating that might need boosting is quickness. To be honest i think its fine how it is though. Theres no rating for making your teammates better and being the MVP in the way that nash is.
Tue Mar 21, 2006 3:56 pm
Only thing I'd lower at this point is defensive awareness, so no worries there.

Steve Nash became MVP again .... and if compare with his previous season he scoring more with better field goals percent ..... and his rating is only 82 but was 83 in begining .... pls fix it in next roster man , Nas is MVP again
Mon May 08, 2006 10:29 pm
Don't you understand the logic of overall ratings?
Overall ratings determines what all of his ratings combined equal, this include offence, defence and athletic ratings. Steve Nash is a choppy defender, hence why his defence ratings are low. This highly effects his overall ratings. But he's still a great offensive player. If you learn to study player ratings, you do not have to rely on overall ratings to determine who is 'great' to use.

No. There is nothing to "fix". To raise Nash's overall rating I'd need to boost his defensive ratings and he is not deserving of that. I will not boost Steve Nash's overall rating simply because he won the MVP again.

Didn't we make it clear enough?

His Defensive Awareness was decreased slightly as it was a little high for a player not considered to be better than adequate defensively.
For the last time; the overall is not the most important point to focus on when creating ratings, I'm not changing ratings just so the overall looks "better".
