Jersey Errors - Missing Pic-Wrong Date-Crash

Postby Alphasim on Sat Feb 25, 2006 7:27 pm

I've been attempting to add a new jersey to my game, but it's been fighting me. I made a rough build of Cleveland's 00-01 jersey using Bassman58's tutorial but it's causing the game to crash. However, there seems to be a larger issue. The game doesn't show the preview I made - which isn't a major issue - and it lists the wrong year on the preview. Here's some snaps I took to show what I mean.

I went back and rebuilt the files a number of times, but that doesn't change that the game is reading the date wrong, which seems to mean I've got a secondary problem. Pic 1 shows my .dbf edit, pic 2 shows the uniform file itself, and pic 3 shows the result. Without the wham-slam-boom crash (that'd be hard to document in pictures... a shockwave or flash file, maybe?). Funny thing is, 1994-95 is the year from the jersey I used as a file template - Dallas's 94-95 home unis (I wanted basic blue numbers and names). The date's not stored in the .viv file, is it? Just for completionist's sake, here's the .viv file's contents, rebuilt until the numbers stopped spinning.

I hope someone knows what the heck I did to mess this up. Anybody?

Did you edit the .ebo file found in the preview? Not doing that would cause the problem you're having,

Yeah, I opened it with the Hex editor and edited that as well.

Hmm. Did you;
    - compress the files inside the .viv?
    - rename all the files?
    - rebuild all files in both the .viv and .big

Because the preview is showing Dallas' year, it leads me to believe there's a problem with the .big preview file. Maybe look over that file again and see if you see something you missed?

I compressed the files in the .viv, rebuilt both the .viv and the .big files until the stopped numbers stopped spinning, and I checked my data in the preview's .ebo file. Here's a few more pics to hopefully find where I'm screwing up.

The first pic is the preview's .big file. The second is the preview's file name. The last is inside the preview's .ebo file. I'm about to give up, since I don't seem to have a technical problem. Rather, it's like my computer's rejecting it. Maybe one of the art files is wrong? I used a .bmp file for the jersey texture and a transparent .png file for the preview. Could that be the problem?

What were the dimensions of the .png? I don't really know what to think of right now, I can't see a problem. Do you mind sending me the files so I can look at them?
