Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

What's the point in a 25 year dynasty when drafted rookies never rate above 70 avg? Plus all their individual ratings are screwed and the heights are bizarre?!!
Are there any downloadable fixes for this bug that I'm searching in all the wrong places for? Or am I stuck with this retarded piece of scripting?

No fixes I'm afraid.

If you get a good scout and scout 5-10 players in the position you want you'll get a good player(Normal players too). I got a crazy centre with a rating of 75 using that technique.

( Yes I know it's an obivous way to get good rookie's)

Does scouting affect how good the rookies turn out to be? If so, i should really take it more seriously instead of scouting the same guy once a month so the owner doesn't get pissed off at me

I was under the impression some of the information could be wrong or inaccurate if you don't scout regularly and/or your scout isn't knowledgable in a certain area.

yeah, after year 1 in my lakers dynasty, I got 1st pick and drafted a C named Julian Vuu who was 75 overall. He was pretty dang good, but I lost interest and wrote over that dynasty after year 3

Well, without scouting you have less chances of getting a good player. Lets say you only scout one guy through out the whole year, when you get to the draft and draft him his overall is 60 even though you got first pick. If you scout atleast 5 players then you have a better chance of getting a player thats 65 to 75. I got board with scouting once so I just chose a guy that was "projected" to be 3rd overall and he tyrned out to be 64.

I think this is a gap in the market. I don't know of any decent NBA dynasty simulators.

There's Fast Break Basketball but I don't think it has an NBA license so it's full of "almost but not quite" names.

I hate scouting. My stupid Owner's always paging me, but I get like the 30th pick or around there anyway, so I don't give a damn.

Yeah, i hear you, but I scout one guy each month so he doesn't page me, 30th pick all the way unless I can be fucked trading for draft picks, which is too much hassle.

i try to trade picks, but they never want them

With the 'Cats, I grabbed a guy named (something) Vuu. He was a 7'0 center whose rating was 77.
Another good player in the first round is Ishito, or something like that. When I drafted him he was a great shooter (above 80 in FG and 3pt.) and something like 74 or 75 overall.

and its weird how theyre's so many asian players in every draft year... and in reality theres like 5 asians in the nba.
not being racist, just saying..

There's a steady influx of asians, which is pretty funny. Ishito was good for me as well - around a 76 I think to start but was barely able to increase that in year 1 (and I lost interest and restarted anyways). Got Hewitt this time around, who is a 75 (4th overall pick I think it was) and is 80+ on fg and 3s plus a good dunker.
It seems the same names come up as good players and bad players, though I haven't gotten past 1 draft year to see if that continues.
That very weak - very strong rating on the draft seems to make a big difference as well. I drafted at the end of the 1st round in year 2 and took a guy with pretty good ratings but he still ended up being a 66 or something like that. End of 2nd round player was a 60 and again, that was with decent ratings - these were in a weak draft year. The rookie free agents that year were all low 60s and 50s as well, while in strong draft years you can get some good, cheap rookies to fill your bench (though as mentioned, they always have screwy ratings or hieght/weight issues).

ı sometimes sim the game to see the rookies ı am gonna draft and what ı realized is that the players abilities are changing, for ex ı sim the game, start the 2.season and my rookie is like 70overall another time ı sim the game and start 2.season and the same rookie is like 63overall you see what ı meann...

I wonder if some .dat file hex-editing would be able to change things. Surely there's some randomized generator for all the stats or something...
It just seems dumb that ALL rookies suck, some rookies in their first years are amazing, Lebron and Shaq would rate in the high 80's atleast. Chris Paul would get atleast 80.
Wed Feb 15, 2006 1:39 am
i find it depends on the strength of the draft...
Wed Feb 15, 2006 5:22 am
It isn't about how high they are to start, it is how much training you put into them. I don't think the asst coach logic is strong for CPU run teams...so they don't seem to advance fast...but I have trained some up to be 90+ that started as high 60's to low 70's.
But overall ratings don't mean squat if they don't fit your team. hehe. If I want a defensive stopper, I get the best defensive coaches and athletics and train them all season long. Rookies should just be a base figure of what they will be in the future. So when I need a stopper, I will sign a scout that has a high defensive recruiting rating and scout the position I need to fill. Each player should have a defined role to be effective, in my opinion.
