Wanting to start a Dynasty, need some help.

Hey All

I am new here and I love a good game off Basketball, I am from Australia and I do not get to watch any NBA at all and our Basketball is boring to watch.

Anyway, I just got hold of NBA Live 06 and I am looking to start a Dynasty, I will probably start with the LA Lakers, but I like to put a twist on things. I am not sure of the rules with the NBA draft and stuff but I am looking to Dump every players over 21 years old and sign anyone below the gae of 21, can this be done?

Also I am so so crap at this game, and will probably start on Rookie difficulty, but I want to start on Starter difficulty but I find that I never have any defence, so I am probably going to have to adjust the sliders, any suggestions anyone for those settings?

Anyway, basically I do not know how to start or what to even do, so any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

Hi eastley, welcome to the forum! Always nice to see another Aussie on board. I definitely know what you mean about not being able to watch the NBA, I finally invested in Foxtel a couple of years back and still feel it's one of the best investments I've made. But for a long time seeing a live game or even one hours after the fact was a rare treat.

I'm guessing you want to have a team of players 21 or younger, since dumping everyone in the league over 21 won't leave enough players to fill out all the teams. The easiest way of assembling such a team would be to do a Fantasy Draft when you start a new Dynasty, that way you could choose the players you want.

There's a lot of slider suggestions in the stickied thread here in General, with folks improving on their slider sets all the time. I'm sure you'll find a set in there that will suit your needs. :)

Good luck, hopefully I've been of some help.

Thanks man, my First name is Andrew to by the way, lol.

The reason why I wanted to build a young team was because I attemted this in LMA Manager 2005(Soccer Manager) on PS2, But I never had a player over the age 18 then, and within 3 seasons I won the premiership, it was a blast to watch my team develope from being a bunch of 18 year olds or younger into champions.

Anyway who's slider settings do you suggest? I have problems with the CPU just running through any defence and making baskets, also rebounds are always going to the CPU, they just about score every time the go down court.

A lot of us Andrews around. (Y)

Heiks posted some very good slider settings recently. Basically when it comes to rebounds the common suggestion is to lower the offensive rebounding sliders for both CPU and User to 0 and set the defensive rebounding sliders to 100 for each as well; this compensates for the game's tendency to allow more offensive boards (especially on the same possession) than is realistic.

Again I'd recommend the Fantasy Draft if you'd like to put a young team together easily, otherwise you might be able to do it through trades if you target the up and coming youngsters rather than the likes of LeBron (who hasn't peaked but is already at a high level and thus difficult to acquire). You'll need some good assets to make trades work but that would leave the league in a more realistic state. Go for the Fantasy Draft if you don't mind seeing all the stars get reassigned else try your hand at wheeling and dealing if you feel you're up for the challenge.
