game won't load

I bought NBA live 06 and tried it..
i tried quick game, and chose the teams.
i started the game as it seems.
when i press start after selecting the location and the minutes, the game won't load. like the screen where it shows the scorer or playmaker, etc etc, just freezes and the game won't load... the whole thing freezes(i knew cuz the music stopped).
help me

ps2... take the disc back or try cleaning your cd-drive.

threatlockz is right, if the CD is not a patched version, try cleaning the disc or PS2's lens.
