just started crashing on coaching screen

Ive been playing this game the same way for a long time, no roster updates / patches installed. In the middle of a season that ive been playing since day one with no errors, suddenly I can't enter the coaching screen.
every time i click on coaching, game crashes to desktop. Any ideas?
**edit: I have been troubleshooting this for a few hours now, and i think ive isolated part of the problem. I tried replacing my players.dbf file with one from a previous (but very similar) saved game slot, with no effect. But when i replaced the franchise.dat file, it will now allow me into the coaching screen. BUT, when i click on the button to select the next coach... CRASH.. does this info help?

i'm afraid your dynasty is corrupted somehow. dont know of a way to fix it.
