"Original" Dream Team Vs. 2004 Olympic Squad

Wed Dec 07, 2005 9:36 am

wasnt sure where i should post this so im doing it i finally finished the creation of the orginal squad and thought that i would prove that the nightmare squad that took bronze in 04 was exactly that a nightmare

Settings

10 min Quarters
All Star Diffuculty
and i use Pared's Settings

Starters
C David Robinson
PF Charles Barkley
SF Scottie Pippen
SG Michael Jordan
PG Magic Johnson

1st Quarter
it didnt take long for the "Nightmare Squad" to take control they led 6-0 2 min in after that i went on a 18-0 run off of careless ball handling by AI (scored 12 consective on fast break dunks by MJ, Scottie, Magic, an alley oop from Magic to Robinson, another 360 by MJ, then a breakaway oop from Magic to MJ all off of steals) then i lost control again letting Melo get a fast break and then consective 3 point plays to Duncan in the post managed to retake control though on MJ's jumper with .04 remaining over LeBron giving me a 30-24 lead at the end of 1.

2nd Quarter
Robinson picked up 4th foul 6 secs in with Duncan taking it to him the entire first quarter had to sit him and bring in Ewing who had a huge game off the bench (10 pts 8 Rebs in 24 min) went back and forth though until about 8 min in when i had to rest Magic and MJ i went 0-10 from the feild however held the "Nightmare Squad" to 10 points allowing them to tie at 42 with 4:30 left in the half when i got magic and Mj back which immeditaly led to 2 breakaway dunks and a 4 pt lead pretty much a defensive struggle the rest of the quarter i led 59-56 at the half MJ had 23 of his game high 39 in the first half.

3rd Quarter
opened with great defensive play but poor shooting which allowed them to tie it a 61 on a 3 by AI then they took the lead at 66-65 with 7:50 to go in the 3rd then things turned into a nightmare for the "nightmare squad" as i ran off 12 straight again capped by a beautuful 360 windmill by MJ at the 6 min mark even got the lead to 20 after Pippen missed an alley oop from MJ that Sir CHarles dunked on the put back once again we both got hot from the floor as i closed out the the quarter up 97-77

4th Quarter
not much happened they got to within 12 before i pulled away again the only intresting thing of note was LeBron missed a breakaway 360 slam and Duncan hitting a triple at the buzzer

Final Score
Dream Team 131 04 Olympians 109

Notable Performances

Dream Team
Michael Jordan 39 pts 2 Rebs 2 Stls 4 assists (POG)
Patrick Ewing 10 pts 8 Rebs in 24 min (off the bench)

The starting lineup for the 92 Olympic team should be as follows:

C Patrick Ewing
PF Karl Malone
SF Charles Barkley
SG Micheal Jordan
PG Scottie Pippen(magic had the flu/food poisoning and only played 2 games, stockton had sprained ankle missed most games)

the lineup fo the final game was:

C Ewing
PF Malone
SF Pippen
SG Jordan
PG Stockton
with Barkley as 6th man

Might as well post the 93 Dream Team, as i've never seen the starting lineup listed correctly.

C Shaquille O'Neal
PF Shawn Kemp
SF Dan Majerle('nique rarely played, derrick coleman was backup)
SG Reggie Miller
PG Kevin Johnson(isiah thomas was never part of this team , tim hardaway was injured and was not part of this team, and mark price played limited minutes, steve smith was backup here)

hm i agree with the score because like all of the guys on the team were actually the best players in the nba, and the best team players, and like literally all hall of famers... so yeah not suprising

Mon Dec 19, 2005 5:07 pm

played this game again using oldfoolstyles lineup and still crushed them this time the final score was 155-121 (Mike scored 60 on them and Barkley had 22 boards in 12 min quarters)

LBJ torched me for 37 and Duncan had a triple double of a measly 15 points 10 Rebs and 12 blocks

Play as the "nightmare squad" instead of the dream team or let the cpu play with itself.

Tue Dec 20, 2005 3:59 am

i tried playing as the "nightmare Squad" and got beat but only by 14 143- 129 i was in the game with with a min to go down by 6 but then i started fouling and they didnt miss free throws and i missed a bunch of threes trying to get back into it MJ had 23 and 9 Barkley had 16 and 10 and Pippen had 36 and 8 assists for me AI had 15 and 17 assists TD had 29 and 15 and LeBron had 49 Points 7 Rebs and 5 assists

common the 2004 olympic squad only had athleticsm. the real Dream team had athleticsm, shooting, playmaking, plus most of the Hall of Famers (MJ,Magic,Bird) not to mention other countries developed and improved their game as well.

i would suggest as well let the CPU head to head.

Tue Dec 20, 2005 9:56 am

Tarheel_23_05NC, I would probably lose, too. I tried playing against my own Clipper squad where my created self is 99(but not all ratings 99) with the Lakers and it was a good game until the 4th where they took off with the lead. I missed lots of 3's and was unable to get to the FT line while they got to the line like every other possession. It was fun watching the cpu own me with my created player, though.

Oh yeah, where are these rosters located with the Dream Team and the '04 squad?

Tue Dec 20, 2005 11:11 am

no subs?? did you disable fatigue?

Tue Dec 20, 2005 2:21 pm

This is a game, so the outcome wont be the same as in real life. If it was real life, the Dream Team would've won because the 04 didn't play as a team, and was made of too many young guys.

Tue Dec 20, 2005 3:21 pm

i used the default settings when i played as the "nightmare Squad" which means that the fatigue was set at zero remember im playing 05 not 06 i posted this in the wrong forum im going to let the comp play tommorrow while im getting ready for work to see what the outcome is.

thanks for all the input guys

Tue Dec 20, 2005 6:30 pm

no wonder there are no substitutions. set the fatigue to 50 to 100. i recommend 50 for a more realistic gameplay.

Thu Dec 22, 2005 4:55 am

ok here we go i was getting ready for work yesterday and let the cpu play itself

Dream Team151 - Nightmare Squad 142

Ok so the Dream Team won but only by 9 but it was never really intresting in the 4th as the dream started the quarter up by 21 i had fatigue set at 45 and substituions set at 74 well MJ lit em up for 25 of his 36 in the first half while the rest of the dream team just played great team defense outclassing the 04 squad Ewing had 19 and 10 for the Dream Team While Barkley had 14 and 21 off the Bench (Malone got hurt with 6 min to go in the 1st quarter) for the 04 squad they played great team ball in the 2nd half but it just wasnt enough TD had 35 and 16 and completly manhandled both Ewing and Robinson in the post all game long MJ held LeBron in check as he had 21 and 5 while Melo had 24 and 6 and AI exploded all over Magic and Stockton with 25

Finally beat DREAM TEAM

Tue Dec 27, 2005 6:04 am

I finally found a way to stop the "Dream Team" and i did it with a few(not all of the suggetsions that i found here just most) suggested could be olympians in 2008

C Tim Duncan 21 points 18 Rebs
PF Amare Stoudamire 14 points 12 Rebs
SF LeBron James 36 points 4 rebs
SG Michael Redd 27 points 3 assists
PG T.J. Ford 5 points 19 assists

C Ben Wallace 6 points 4 Rebs
PF Pat Garritty 11 points 4 rebs
SF Ron Artest 18 points 6 blocks 5 steals
SF Carmelo Anthony DNP
SF Tayshaun Prince DNP
SG Dwayne Wade 12 points 2 rebs

PG Kirk Hinrich 3 points 11 assists

The final stats were my squad 145 - Dream Team 142

MJ paced the DT with 38 points 10 rebs and 5 blocks (POG in losing effort)
Ewing had 18 and 9
Pippen had 25 and 7
Malone had 14 and 10
stockton had 3 and 12 assists

Robinsion 4 points 4 rebs
Barkley 8 points 4 rebs
Lattner DNP
Bird 10 points 6 rebs
Mullin DNP
Drexler 5 points 2 rebs
Johnson 17 points 6 rebs 8 assists (came off bench 4 min to 1st quarter outplayed stockton 28 min to 20 min)

this was the first team that i put together that played well enough defense to actually limit DT's scoring opprutuittys (even was able to match teamwork and athletism along with playmaking)
