A Little Help with Custom Teams

Thu Nov 24, 2005 4:09 am

Okay, I'm not the best patcher around, but I'm not a newb either. Here's my problem: I'm replacing the Chicago Bulls with my custom team. I've edited the dbf files for my team, I've created the jerseys and edited the court...all my changes show in the game just fine, but when it comes to changing the team logos the game crashes. I've dug out the files from the "nba live 06\fe" folder (logos.viv). I tried using biGUI to extract the .big file from the viv, and then the fsh file from the .big file, only problem is that after I import back in, biGUI won't rebuild the .big file or the .viv file (It acts like it's rebuilding the .big file, but when you close it out, then reopen it, it reverts back to what it was before I tried to rebuild it :?: ). I used nfshtool to get an 8 and 24 bit bmp which I then used in paintshop to make my logo, rebuilt the fsh file using nfshtool, and then imported back into the .big file with biGUI. I tried Dolffin live 2.0, exported a png, made my logo and imported back in using Dolffin. Using both ways, when you get to the team selection screen and get to my team, the game crashes. Using biGUI, Fshx, and Nfshtool for all my other additions did not cause any problems, but I can't seem to get it right on the logos. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Signed by....I've been trying to get this right for 3 days :!: :!: :!:

I'm not sure where you went wrong, but it sounds like it could be because the files you imported are not the same size as the existing files. Make sure whatever you import is the same size.

Thank you for responding Cable Guy. OK...I went back and loaded up my logos.viv with Dolffin live and checked the size of the pngs I imported, and they're the same size as the ones I exported to begin my work. Any other thoughts?

It might be one of these things:

- The file name is wrong, maybe you misspelled something
- Or, the problem lies with you not being able to rebuild the files. What did you use to open the .fsh file?

I tried a few different things. I originally tried extracting everything with biGUI, then using Fshx to open, export, and then import a dds, but do to the fact that I was limited with what I could do with a dds, I used nfshtool to unpack the fsh file and make an 8 and a 16 bit bmp (which is what I did when I edited the numbers on the jersey), then repacked using nfshtool, opened the fsh file with Fshx to check it (I found out if you didn't do something right when editing the bmp's and repacked it using nfshtool, that it would crash Fshx when you tried to reopen it), then I tried importing the fsh file back in with biGUI. When I tried to rebuild the .big file after importing the fsh, all would act normal, but when you closed out biGUI, and tried to open the .big file again, it would revert back to the way it was before I rebuilt it. I never changed any of the names of the files. Without the .big file staying rebuilt, importing back into the viv and trying to rebuild was useless. Then I found Dolffin live 2.0. I used it to open the viv, scan down through all the files in the viv, and export the logo I wanted to change as a .png. After my editing I would import the .png back in. Once again, no file names were changed, and all of the png's were the same pixel size as the original. I've got a couple of things I'm going to try. One is using photoshop instead of paintshop...my version of photoshop is newer than my paintshop...don't know if that'll help or not. I'm also going to try and export the whole fsh file using Dolffin, instead of just the png and see what happens. If you see anything above that you think I may have done wrong, or any other ideas, let me know.

thanks

I can't see anything wrong with that. Go ahead and try what you suggested, see if it helps.

Maybe Andrew could point out something? ...

Ok...I think I'm onto something. First off let me correct myself earlier, using nfshtool it's a 24 bit and an 8 bit bmp. Now here's what I did: using photoshop didn't make any difference...neither did exporting the whole fsh file using Dolffin. I thought about the problem with bigGUI not rebuilding the file and did a web search for bigGUI and eventually came upon a post by Seraph for Live 2005 about shoes. You extract the .big file from the viv with EAgraph, then extract the fsh from the .big with bigGUI, then he says use fshx, but since I can't get what I want using a dds, I used nfshtool to get my bitmaps, repacked, then went in reverse order...imported the fsh into the .big with bigGUI, rebuild, then import the .big back into the viv with EAgraph...and booya!!! it showed up in the team selection screen without crashing the game. Hopefully I can do the rest of the logos this way. Only real problem is that the new viv will not open in Dolffin anymore...it just crashes the program...but oh well. I'll get back on if this works for all the logos. Thanks again for your help cable guy....and also thanks to Seraph. :D

Maybe you need to edit the .ebo-file in the logos .big-files.
Have you used the 'ci' and 'chic' for your art files or other abbreviations?

 If you have used new ones:
you should edit the .ebo-file to match them. All the way at the bottom of the .ebo-file from your logo .big, it says 'ci' somewhere and you need to replace that with your abbreviation.

You can edit dds files in photoshop with this.

DDS photoshop plugin

When I save a dds, I use dxt3 explicit alpha.
