Live 2006 PS2: lock-up on loading screen?

I apologize if this is covered somewhere, but I did a few searches and didn't find it. I've been experiencing a lock-up in franchise mode during the loading screen. It seems to happen 2 out of 3 times or more.

What I'm wondering is if this is a bug in the game or if I have a bad disc. I don't want to go through the hassle of taking it back (I've misplaced the receipt, and the clerks at EB aren't particularly nice about such things, even though they can crossreference and find the info since I pre-ordered) if it's a game issue and not a faulty disc.

It's not my PS2. Every other game I have plays fine. I do occasionally get that read error with blue discs, but none of my games are blue disc anymore (and I can usually get my sharkport disc to load after a few reboots). EA's website went through all the basic troubleshooting, and none of that solved the problem.

Any advice would be helpful.

i use ps2 and ya that happens to me too, only 1 out of 4 or 5 times though, and its happened to afew other people too, i dont know why it happens to just ps2, its really starting to piss me off, my only advice is to just save before you play every game

YEa that happens to me, but only in dynasty. I mean i have to sav after each game or else it will lock-up.

yep,happens to me too.in dynasty mode.pisses me off quite often
