why is it that, when a player recieved a past break pass in a running game they sometimes tend to wait for a defender b4 shooting the ball
or just go straight under the ring then wait for the defender then pass the ball, is there anyway to avoid this?

A common scenario is they wait for the D, pass to the other guy, who passes it back, then they shoot and the ball hits the underside of the hoop and bounces back or it hits under the backboard.
