The Good Things About Live

Postby Colin on Sat Oct 08, 2005 11:49 am

Seeing as people are acting like the number of significant flaws is about 10x what it actually is, a thread about the good stuff is needed.

Things I like.

1 - The graphics this year.

Other than those menus with itty bitty resolutions everything is great. The animations are smooth, the faces are very detailed, and the courts are better than past years. The lighting no longer looks all the players are standing in a back alley at 2 am with a police helicopters spotlight shining over their heads which is a big improvement.

2 - Superstar freestyle

Sure you can try and abuse it, but then you're not trying to be realistic. Idiot. The moves are cool, it's taking me a little while to get used to it, but it's definitely a bonus. And the CPU doesn't use it all the time either so that is definitely a plus

3 - The Return of the Mythical Fastbreak

Your players run the angles. Highlight of this was a beautiful Paul Pierce alley-opp throwdown as the defender just missed the rotation and got posterized. In addition to this the 'catch-up' bug is gone which is fantastic.

I'm running out of superlatives, and want to leave some things for everyone else. I'm going back to playing. :D

The game overall just feels like an authentic nba game, nba live is just so interactive dat ppl tend to cheese their ways but its watever.....my only problem so far is

1) Deflections dats go outta bounds counting for turnovers, i hate having high turnovers numbers because of this, plz EA fix dis !
2)Not being able to save plays, i gotta do dis shit every game because u cant save ur options

Other than those 2, with MY sliders, i experience the most realistic results ever and since the Nets are my team, its just so fun to play this game! Live 06 is really a great game

Yes, the fast breaks are fun. Sometimes quite easy, but usually when you have three players against one it IS easy. And there's something about running towards the basket all alone you can't get enough of, and it's even more rewarding after a steal.

Colin, a perfect game would make you play realistically. If real NBA players had a shot that would go in 70% of the time, would they not use it all the time?? I haven't touched the superstar button in games and I might as well remove it altogether.

No matter what you can always play unrealistically. Jacking threes, forcing the ball into the paint everytime, and all that. And that comment was directed more at people who complain about superstar this year/pro-hop in 04/freestyle in 03 being too hard too stop. If that's the case then just don't use it so much.

Good things about live:
-Fastbreaks
-Cpu actually running plays
-Freesytle superstars
-Cpu recognizing the double team and not forcing it.
Btw is there anyone else noticed that if you fake once, the cpu wouldnt contest your shot the next time around?

yeh that ones cool :P makes 3's easy

i like the dynasty mode, in that not all rookies dont want 385k/yr, and can also be really good (great off/def aware and good stats)
also the freestyle superstar kicks ass, and i loved when i first played the game on superstar and it was actually a CHALLENGE, something i missed while playing 05...
