Rebound the ball!!

Postby AznBBoyX on Sat Oct 01, 2005 8:43 am

Is anyone having trouble getting defensive rebounds? I set the computer slider to 0 on offensive reounds and mine to 100 and I still have problems. I have KG on my team and I box out every time yet it is still hard as hell to grab a board. Also when when a guard is driving on me, they run into me and knock me out out of the way, miss the shot, grab their own board and dunk it in. It is getting very annoying. I seriously got twice more offensive boards than defensive boards in that game. I remember it was like that back in Live 2001 or 2002 (forgot which).

You really have to box out and time your jump well this year. Aside from anything else, more shots bounce on the rim a couple of times which can lure you into jumping too early.

Boxing out eh? Is that by holding down the right analog? Cos I'm having trouble with that, it's hard to hold it down and press rebound, plus when boxing out after a free throw, my players always seem to do this stupid off ball control move instead........

any other way or is that it?

I have this problem also...but even though it frustrates the fuck out of me, I dunno, it doesnt really effect the game overall.

this is the major flaw in this years nba live......it can really ruin a game. I box out and jump on different times and i tried a lot of different things and still the cpu got too many off rebs. i also have it on 100 and 0........(def. rebs 100) on both sliders as well as mine as the cpu. it is too easy to grab off rebs in this years version. sucks major ass.

well the rebounding sucks this year but not because of the "feel" of the rebound, actually the animations, player reactions and ball physics are very much improved. what they missed to implement that would have made rebounding perfect and instead makes it the most sloppy part of gameplay, is that when a player comes from behind to grab an offensive rebound in real life they get called for a FOUL 99% of the time at the most minimal contact.

no fouls in rebounding = every guy with decent off rebounding rating jumping over your player(s) all the time to grab your rebound.

yes this is the games biggest flaw, but it's something we can somewhat control....unlike the blocked shots of previous lives.

i'm gonna add that the easiest way to fix it for the next live would be to make in-air collisions happen when rebounding so when an offensive rebounder bumps into a defensive rebounder from behind they may get called for a foul depending on the in-air collision foul slider.

Agree with what everybody said in this thread. The rebounding sucks...I can't find a better word to describe it. When the other team PG gets 2 offensive rebounds in a row against your C & PF, you know there's a problem.
