The Shooters:
(Ray Allen)
Hold the left trigger and press A: Fake Pass and Shoot
Free yourself up for a jumper by faking your opponent out of his kicks and into the air. If the defender doesn't fall for the fake, however, your window of opportunity to take the shot decreases as the defenders become increasingly expectant of the shot the more you fake.
Hold the left trigger and press Y: Bank Shot
Think Tim Duncan is money with the bank, now it's your turn. The thing is, you will not be able to hit the bank from all angles on the floor, so know your spot (and your geometry). There are areas on the floor where calling for the bank is just as good as calling for a turnover, but shoot from 45-degrees and your bank will turn into a high-percentage shot that will go in more often than not.
Hold the left trigger and press B: Set Shot
A quick release that shooters can pull off from close quarters, with time winding down, and in offensive sets. Watch out for defenders running at you, though, as your lack of elevation for the shot can lead to a big block if your opponent times it right.
Hold the left trigger and press X: Hold Your Follow Through
The longer you hold the left trigger, the longer you hold your follow through. Think Gee Money in New Jack City for the ultimate hold your hands in the air shot. If you're going to taunt your opponent with this shot, make sure you sink it, otherwise you might be a bit slow to get back on D.
The Scorers:
Outside Scorers (Iverson)
Hold the left trigger and tap A: Windmill Layup
Hold the left trigger and hold A: Switch Hands Layup
Hold the left trigger and tap Y: Runner
Hold the left trigger and tap B (when going toward basket): Double Clutch
Hold the left trigger and tap B (when going away from the basket): Turnaround J
Hold the left trigger and tap X: Fake Behind the Back Layup
Hold the left trigger and hold X: Behind the Back Layup
Outside scorers also have a variety of moves utilizing the right analog stick. Here are some Triple Threat moves when facing the basket.
Hold the left trigger while holding right on the right analog stick: Jab and Hold
Hold the left trigger while holding down on the right analog stick: Cradle and Hold Back
Hold the left trigger while holding left on the right analog stick: Create Space
Hold the left trigger while holding up on the right analog stick: Hold between the legs
Once in the Triple Threat position, try one of the following moves:
Left trigger + Right Analog Hold Right + Left analog Left: Spin Left
Left trigger + Right Analog Hold Down + Left analog Left: Behind the Back
Left trigger + Right Analog Hold Up + Left analog: Blow Out Dribble
Left trigger + Right Analog Flick Down: Fake Dribble Right, Spin Left
Inside Scorers (Sheed)
Hold the left trigger and tap A: Hook Shot
Hold the left trigger and tap Y: Runner
Hold the left trigger and tap B (while going towards basket): Double Clutch
Hold the left trigger and tap B (while going away from the basket): Turnaround J
Hold the left trigger and tap X: Avoid Strip Layup
Inside Scorer Right Analog Moves
Left trigger + Right Analog Hold Right: Face Up
Left trigger + Right Analog Hold Down: Up and Under
Left trigger + Right Analog Hold Left: Shoulder Fake
Go Moves (while you are in a back to the basket, Triple Threat position from the post)
Left trigger + Right Analog Hold Right + Left Analog Left: Blow Out Dribble Left
Left Trigger + Left Analog Left: Spin Left
Left Trigger + Left Analog Right: Spin Right
The Stoppers:
Inside Stoppers (Big Ben)
Hold the left trigger and tap Y: Block/Rebound
In terms of blocks, Inside Stoppers get off the ground faster than other players, enabling them to block shots a typical NBA player couldn't even challenge. Swatting the ball will lead your team to an easier shot in transition and will work to intimidate your opponent from attempting to bring their weak game inside the paint again. On the flip side, jumping into the air to block a shot will leave your player vulnerable to potential foul calls.
When going for the rebound with an Inside Stopper, your player will actually go over the top of other players in order to clean up on the boards. This works on both offensive and defensive rebounds, but going for the Superstar rebound could put you out of position if you don't grab the ball, potentially leaving the inside open for an easy put back if you're on defense.
Hold the left trigger and tap B: Take Charge
Step in front of your man and draw the foul. Stand in the wrong area, however, and watch the dribbler pass right on by for an easy bucket.
Hold the left trigger and tap X: Steal/Interception
Stoppers have the ability to swipe the ball from offensive players playing with their back to the basket. Superstars who play on the inside can use multiple angles to reach in for the ball, but be careful, the more you pound the button, the more chances your player could get called for the foul. Also, by going for the steal, you might also leave yourself out of position, exposing your game for a chance to get beaten off of the dribble.
Outside Stoppers (J. Kidd)
Hold the left trigger and tap B: Take Charge
Hold the left trigger and tap X: Steal/Interception
Whether the dribbler has his back to the basket or is coming full steam ahead, outside stoppers have the ability to reach in and around to poke the ball free and start a break the other way. Teams like the 76ers with the double dose of AI (both outside stoppers), will make it tough for any team to dribble the ball past half court.
The Playmaker:
(Steve “MVP” Nash)
Hold the left trigger and tap A: Bounce Pass
If executed properly, the bounce pass is difficult for defenders to steal, and when your teammate is on the move, a bounce pass is the easiest pass for him to handle.
Hold the left trigger and tap Y: No Look Pass
Look to one player, throw the pass to another. It's a great way to thread the rock through a group of confused defenders, but since you are not looking at your target, this is also a low percentage pass in terms of completion.
Hold the left trigger and tap B: Fake Pass
Your player will fake a pass one way, then pass the ball to another player. When the defense falls for the fake, makes for a nice layup. If the defense doesn't bite, you could be looking at an interception.
Hold the left trigger and tap X: Behind the Back Pass
The ultimate in Showtime passing, best used on fast breaks as it's a low percentage play if in a crowd.
The Highflyers:
(Kobe)
Hold down the left trigger and tap A (close): Two Foot, One Hand Tomahawk
Hold down the left trigger and tap A (far): Two Foot, One Hand Leaner
Hold down the left trigger and hold A (close): Double Pump
Hold down the left trigger and hold A (far): Two Foot Windmill
Hold down the left trigger and tap Y (close): Two Hand, Two Foot Windmill

Hold down the left trigger and tap B (close): Two Foot, Two Hand Tomahawk
Hold down the left trigger and tap B (far): One Hand, Double Clutch Layup

Tue Sep 13, 2005 7:48 am
I think Kobe is better fit as a scorer as a high flyer.
Tue Sep 13, 2005 8:48 am
they didnt list them all.....obviously. cos Bruce Bowen is a stopper and AK....they just named some of the players. IGN said that each team has at least 1-3 people that have superstar abilities.

Tue Sep 13, 2005 10:17 am

Preview videos have already shown McGrady performing Freestyle Superstar moves. I think it's the lists circulating that have the errors, not the game itself.

some screens for 06 have players have their freestyle abilities "disabled" or "enabled"
what does this mean? you remove it so you dont want to use it?
Wed Sep 14, 2005 9:42 pm
you can only use one at a time for each player
Wed Sep 14, 2005 11:45 pm
Guys, these lists don't show every player. Calm the fuck down.
