Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Wanna know what really bugs me? Well I'll tell you anyways. It's when game companies throw out
minimum system requirements just so they can appeal to the masses and sell their product.
Let's take a look at the specs of what EA claims Live 06 will run on:
# 1.0 GHz Intel Pentium III or higher
# 256 MB RAM
# 32 MB DirectX 9.0c Compatible Video card
The key word there is "run". Yes Live 06 will "run" on a 1GHz system with 256MB RAM and any old 32MB DirectX 9c compatible video card. And it may not even crash. But will it be
playable? Will it be
enjoyable? The answer is NO.
Will a bunch of unsuspecting basketball fans be duped by these so called 'requirements' and buy the game only to find out they can't turn details higher than minimum? Yes they will.
There is absolutely no reason for a game company to put out "minimum" system requirements other than to make more money. It doesn't benefit the consumer in any way. It is a marketing ploy plain and simple.
Anyhoo..just felt like ranting for a moment.[/i]

Yeah. It's better to get a computer that is way over the minimum system requirements to see great results.

well... though i partly agree on your statement and enjoy playing games with as much detail as my PC allows me to, and get the corresponding hardware to do so, it IS a must that they put up those minimum requeriments, that way the people that don't meet those requirements are not fooled into buying it.
as of now i think there are a lot of people that might give the game a try even though they know they would have to run the game at the minimum details, just for the fun of playing out a new game, with a new AI and a deeper franchise (yes i know that might not be the case, just wishful thinking).
and btw most people don't even know that a directx9.0c compatible card is actually a requirement that they might eventually get over with. for example: i know guys that play madden 2006 (same directx vid card requirement) with a geforce 4200ti (directx 8 compatible card) and their games run pretty decent cause those are still good cards for average resolutions.

I just upgraded my physical memory going from 768 MBs DDR PC2100 Crucial to 1024 MBs DDR PC3200 XMS Corsair

. Now I'm looking at upgrading my video card... thinking of getting a GeForce GT 6200.

This is why I stick to consoles...I don't have to update the hardware whenever a game comes out, or atleast a new game that requires a new video card...But I must say, PC has awsome graphcs.
