i thin psp is a waste of money anyways, i mean if you wanan play your playstation on the road, spend less amount of money for a car adapter nd mini tv scrren for your playstation instead of that littel pos psp :bday:

I really don't see alot wrong with the game. Sure its not going to look like how the game looks on the PS2 because its not using a PS2 graphics chip. I'm still planning on buying a PSP because I travel alot during the summer and sometime during the basketball season and if we are riding in a bus or something there is no way I can put a PS2.

Yes... So I guess the Game Boy was once so popular for some other reason?
But otherwise, portable game consoles have kind of lost popular, maybe because of the graphics that are no match for normal consoles? Or are kids nowadays just staying at home for the whole day playing on the PC or consoles in front of the TV?

na nothings wrong with the gameboy, im just saying why spend so much money fro psp, when you can buy a much cheaper car adapeter nd tv kit for your ps2, and plus if you have the luzery of a console, why would u buy psp, ya kno wut im sayin

I liked the fact that they included different historycal challenges. Like the on with Shaq, that the developer was talking about...

Your argument is akin to saying, "why buy an ipod when you can hook up a car battery to your home stereo system and carry it with you?" Obviously I'm exaggerating, but you're missing the point of a portable system. The psp isn't limited to being played in a car, as you suggested you can do with your ps2. You're compairing something you can fit in your pocket to something that would require a backpack to haul around. The portability of the psp is also the reason the cost is going to be more than jacking together a ps2 & screen. It may be a waste of money to you, but it's an item targeted at people who want to game (or watch movies, listen to music, and soon to be official, to webbrowse) from outside the confines of a wired environment. And, no, I don't work for Sony. I just hate when people make poor arguments.

I see what he's saying. Which would you rather?
a portable playstation 1 with next to no battery life

or
being able to play your xbox or ps2 in the car for less money than a psp.

Sure you cant take the car kit on the train or fishing, but the battery life is so shocking on a psp its not really a valid arguement.

Actually, it's much closer to a ps2 in power (in some ways, it's more powerful). If you've ever seen it in action, you'd notice that it's much, much better than the ps1. And currently, the games are not using the full power of the cpu.
Next to no battery life? It lasts several hours in normal use, and has pleanty of juice to view any full-length movie & more. I own one, and I haven't had any problems with battery life.
Also, you can use a car adapter for the psp. Of course, it's another add-on expense.
I was curious to see how the prices actually compair, though.
So, here's a breakdown of possible configurations. I'm only going to site new products from major chains (no used stuff or sale items).
Sony PSP = $249.99
Optional car adapter = $9.99
Total = $259.98

Sony PS2 (slim) = $149.99
Hip Screen Pad Controller for PlayStation 2 (2.6" lcd) = $24.99
Hip Screen Pad Controller car adapter = ???
PS2 car adapter = $14.99
Total = $189.97

This was the cheapest, brand new configuration I could come up with. Unfortunately, the Hip Screen Pad is sold out, and probably isn't made anymore, as I checked the official website and neither the screen pad or the car adapter are lisited.

Sony PS2 (slim )= $149.99
Pelican 7" Monitor = $149.99
PS2 car adapter = $14.99
Total = $314.97

The pelican monitor is the only one that works with the ps2 slim model, so there's obviously cheaper solutions out there for the original size ps2. PS2 compatable monitors seem to run around 100 bucks, though. I didn't see any orignal size ps2s being sold, either.
So you're probably going to have to shell out around $250.00 to take a ps2 on the road. You'll probably say that you already own a ps2, so you don't need to buy one, so it's cheaper than a psp. Well, you had to buy it sometime, so it should still be included in the full cost of the breakdown.
I didn't include games, since the same things apply (new games cost about the same anyway).
I'm sure you can get a used ps2 and screen for cheap, too. But since it's older technolgy, of course you can get it cheaper. There's cheaper ways to get a psp, too.
So is it really cheaper? Maybe, maybe not. It's certainly not a huge difference like you made it out to be.
Sorry to turn this into a psp vs. ps2 mobilty thread. So to get back to the actual topic, I will probably buy NBA Live for psp (as well as for pc). It's sure to be the best 5-on-5 basketball game for a portable ever (not much competition). It's a little hard to judge the game from the blurry preview vids.

You didn't even bother reading my post, did you? I'm done with this topic. What's the point of making a lucid, well informed post when someone else posts out of his ass?
