Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

should also be starting so has David Robinson.nba live needs to show some RESPECT to some real legends.
Thu May 19, 2005 11:14 am
I don't think he's in the game

Maybe I'm wrong

Unless EA have signed some of those guys who were missing in NBA Live 2005 to appear in NBA Live 06, they won't be included.
Fri May 20, 2005 1:59 pm

they need Patrick Ewing there
Sat May 21, 2005 7:08 pm
BOTTOM LINE THEY NEED MIKE BACK IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sun May 22, 2005 2:55 pm
They do, but it's not that simple. Many of those guys aren't part of the retired players union and as such have to be signed to seperate deals to appear in the game...giving them the freedom to a) decline or b) name their price, which may not exactly be a reasonable amount.
Sun May 22, 2005 5:32 pm
I would suggest EA to focus on the game. No disrecept, I miss The Dream, Ewing, Oak and so many others, but lets face it, if we need all the "good ole guys" they spend half the budget do doing deals with those players.
better to wait for someone created a roster patch with edited legends and photo-pack.
Cheers, Flix

That's why I think a decision should be made on the Legends. The following was point six in my
"perfect" NBA Live 2006 feature:
With legal issues preventing the inclusion of several past greats, it's time to make a choice: cut the All-Decade teams (perhaps leaving the Legends Pool) or include lookalikes with generic names and allow them to be edited from within the game a la some of the legends in the FIFA series. If doing that is pushing the envelope too far in the eyes of the law, it might be best to just leave out the legends entirely.
I know that's a drastic decision and I'm sure it wouldn't be any more popular than featuring legendary players despite several omissions, but the roster of legends seems to be getting thinner all the time, to the point where Tom Chambers and Spud Webb are included as 90s All-Stars. The way FIFA has avoided legal problems would be a perfect solution, so long as EA's hands aren't tied by different restrictions imposed by the NBA. If that's the case, thumbs down to the NBA and goodbye to the legends.
Ideally, some of those guys could be signed to deals and make it back into the game. Otherwise, it may be time to cut the feature out, or perhaps get rid of the All-Decade teams as they're starting to get thin.

I don't think there's any point to worrying about who is and who isn't on the all-decade teams - they should put in whoever they have the rights to, and if they're not there, we can create them. It's not like there's a real "all 90's team" with Jordan on it, making the all-90s team in the game inaccurate. The all 90s team is "some legends in the game who played in the 90s", no more, no less...
I don't really like all-decade teams anyway, they seem pointless - what the game needs is some classic teams from the past, that would be better.

I remenber back in Live 99 or maybe it was 98 they didn't have Michael Jordan name on the Bulls roster but instead it said player # 23 I think .. dont quite remenber (so many years) but yeah I think they should do that if they don't have the right to use Jordan, West, Barkley or whoever doesn't belong to that league referred by Andrew at least put their career stats and info (birthdate, draft selection, and ratings accordingly) so when we (gamers) get a copy of the game we just haave to rename it to their real names

easy as that
Now my question is could EA do that ? is it legal anyways? they did it in Live 99 anyways or was it 98?
Sat Jun 04, 2005 6:08 pm
NBA Live 97, 98 and 99 had a "Roster Player" in the place of Michael Jordan (and in NBA Live 97, Charles Barkley as well). I'm not sure if the NBA would allow it, but FIFA has some legendary players with fake names standing in for the real players; the user has the option to edit the players' names from within the game. That wouldn't be such a bad solution.

If I'm not mistaken Hakeem's rating in NBA Live 05 is 96 and he was a better player than David Robinson.
Sat Jun 04, 2005 6:11 pm
That's the doing of roster patchmakers though, Hakeem wasn't in the game by default. Nor was David Robinson.
Sat Jun 04, 2005 6:16 pm
does anyone actually use the legends? i dont ever recall using them.
Sat Jun 04, 2005 6:18 pm
In the past I've been able to utilise them in special roster update. I don't play many games with them these days. I'd probably miss them if they were taken out, but if the roster keeps thinning there's little point in keeping them in the game.

Didnt MJ officially retire? If so then he belongs to the legues retired players union. So he should be in the legends pool.
Sun Jun 05, 2005 2:37 am
He never handed in the official papers. If it's not on paper, he hasn't officially retired.
Sun Jun 05, 2005 4:23 am
oh lol, just retire mike so you can be in the game.
Sun Jun 05, 2005 8:05 am
He's planning on another comeback, this time with the Bucks or Hawks
Sun Jun 05, 2005 8:24 am
Are you serious?
Sun Jun 05, 2005 8:38 am
Hehe, no, he's just fugging around with you and making fun of the amount of comebacks Jordan has made.
Sun Jun 05, 2005 8:52 am
Oh lol, With MJ you never know.
