Problem installing NBA Live 06

Postby Granahaj on Sun Apr 25, 2010 12:53 am

I have the DVD version of this game which I purchased recently. I first tried installing it on Windows XP and the game seemed to install but just wouldn't start up. I even attempted to use a no DVD crack afterwards to try and solve the problem in case my DVD drive was causing the issue but still I had no luck.

I then booted up Windows Vista (on the same computer btw. I am running parallel operating systems on my macbook pro). I installed the game on Vista (including directX and flash player as required) but the game still would not run. My DVD drive doesn't seem to be the problem as the no DVD cracks failed to solve the problem. I just don't know what to do now though. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm desperate to get this game running!

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me out :D

Discussion of cracks or piracy is not allowed on this forum. Make sure you bought a legitimate original copy and not a pirated fake one.

What are your system specifications? (Processor, amount of RAM, videocard, sound card)

Are you running Windows through Apple's operating system or do you have a dual boot option?

Is the game crashing after the splash screen?

As long as you meet the system requirements, you can try is to reinstall the game. Then turn off all unnecessary background programs before running the game.

If that doesn't work, there might be a problem with an incompatible video or sound device, their drivers, or even a problem with DirectX. You can also try turning off your antivirus software before running the game.

Yeah it's a legit copy, bought in my local video game store. It is the sold out software re-release version (basically like platinum games on PS2, re-released because it sold really well).

I am running Windows through the Apple system using a program called Virtual Box. I have assigned Windows 512 mb of Ram although I have up to 4GB if needed. I'm using 32mb video. I have tryed turning off the firewall but luck.

What happens is that when I click the shortcut to open the game small box comes up which says the game is loading please wait. About 2/3 mins later this disappears and the screen flashes black as if to start the game but immediately returns to the desktop. I can't seem to get past this stage.

I think you may be right about the drivers. The one's I have could be out of date but I don't know which I should be downloading to replace them.

The most likely reason the game won't run is because you are using Windows inside of Apple's system. I haven't touched a Mac for years, but I believe it's possible to dual-boot Apple/Windows and select which OS you want to use on startup since Apple moved to using Intel processors.

Here are a couple virtualbox links. After a short read, running 3D accellerated games(NBA Live) in virtualbox is experimental.

Ah, ok. Thanks for all your help. I might consider the dual boot option, although I'm thinking of buying a relatively inexpensive pc for my gaming.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it. :D
