Help Please with Draft Picks!

Sun Nov 23, 2008 2:29 pm

I have only played Dynasty mode for about 5 weeks. How do I get my draft picks? I know how to send the scout out to meet someone, but have no idea how to get the players. Please Help!

Thanks :)

You won't get an opportunity to select anyone until the season is over and you enter the NBA Draft, at which point you'll be able to pick according to how you finished the previous season (the better you do, the lower your pick and only teams that miss the Playoffs are in the running for the lottery picks ie the top fourteen selections). It's therefore important you select a wide range of players so that you have a few different possibilites to pick from in case a CPU team picks a player you wanted. You can always try and trade for that player after the Draft, too.

Sorry for butting in, but is there an easier way of tracking who you've scouted?

During draft-day, your stat-menu goes away and you can only see your PDA. All that info my scouts collected on how good a player was, their potential, etc. is hidden away! Do I really have to reload and write everything down before the finals are over?

On draft day, the players that your scouts have scouted should include the ratings which they have previously reported during the season before the playoff season begins. Unless the other teams were able to draft the same players you have scouted, you should be able to see their ratings before u decide if u want to draft them.

You should be able to see those scouted attributes when you're viewing the available players in the Draft Pool during the Draft.

Yeah, I see what my scouts ratings were, but not their "potential" (Excellent, Limited, etc.)

Am I wrong to assume that the potential affects how fast their stats will grow under training?

And just what is the advantage of getting an A+ scount compared to a C+ one? Sure, the C+ scout will take more trips, but in a season you can make a lot of trips. Is the A+ more accurate?

Correct, a player with greater potential has a greater chance of developing with training and year-to-year (the most player development takes place in between seasons, that way you can't train someone up to be 99 overall within the course of a season unless they're close to it already). They're not guaranteed to develop into stars but if you've got a player with excellent potential you're going to have a lot more luck in training them and seeing them get better during the offseason than someone whose potential is limited or even average.

Higher rated scouts tend to be more accurate and I believe tend to collect more data on players in a single visit.

Yes you can edit the names of the upcoming rookies in your dynasty by using DB Commander. As for editing attributes, my personal opinion is that you do that after you've finished training camp and ready to begin the next season. That way, the game will not crash (which was what I encountered recently while editing generated rookies).
