Is there any way to sort data in players.dbf ?

Thu Jul 10, 2008 12:23 pm

Hi,
I'm using DB commander 2000 to browse data in my players.dbf file.

Overall, Its a pretty good search tool.
For example, I noticed theres a filter option to display only players that meet certain requirements which makes it a great way to find players.

However I couldn't find any way to sort columns or display only certain columns that I wish to view and hide others.
When sorting, I want to be able to arrange information in either ascending or descending order (like in excel).

Is there any way to do this in DB commander?

Late answer but DBF Viewer will allow you to sort by column. I just found a copy if you need it.

It'll be good if you can post the download link, thanks!

Everytime I would sort columns and save them the game would crash after loading. So, make a backup of your files just in case.

why don't you use excel, old versions from 03?
it's much better then any dbf editor

because if we make a mistake in editng dbf files using excel thae dbf file will be corrupt and If you use a dbf editor like the db commander If you make a mistake the db commander will change that dbf file automaticLLY to it's original state. One more thing a dbf editor is originaly designed for editng dbf files and the excel is not ORIGINALLY designed to edit dbf files.

I use excel for all my editing
mistake, hm, there's always a posiibility
Doesn't change the fact, that working in excel is easier, quicker and it allows easy mass changes (ie all DR +10)
the fact that dbf editors are made ORIGINALLY for editing dbf files means really nothing

They tend to be safer for the inexperienced though. I still prefer to use DB Commander though I'll use batch files to make mass changes.

Batch files to make mass changes? Errr... is there a program for that which I can download, Andrew?

You'll need to use CDBF Lite but apart from that, you can just use Windows Notepad to create them.
