Question about getting the ball

OK, you know when there is a loose ball and your opponent dives for it and gets it, they sit there for like 10 seconds and then pass it, well in the 10 seconds they are resting, i feel like such an idiot because im just tapping the steal button and nothin happens...and then after their 10 second vacation they just pass the ball..i feel like such an idiot...so i would like to know,
is there a way to get the ball when your opponent is sitting on the floor with it?
i just cant take that.

Honestly I don't know whether there is the possibility or not, but I just get my player with the highest steal rating near the next CPU player and so I often interrupt the passing lane.

i have tried doing that but i am too slow

you can dive for the ball as well and hope you get it.

I don't think you can get it from them. Pretty stupid. I've tried countless times to steal, with good out. stoppers, and I can't get it. As eisfeld said, just try to get the steal off the pass, it turns out fruitful most of the time.
