Field Goals

Fri Apr 28, 2006 7:10 am

Hello all!
My doubt is about field goals. I was wondering if there is any way to decrease the number of field goals during a game, if it´s played 12 minutes per quarter. I got an average of 100-110 field goals per game and that´s pretty unrealistic. I think that the only two ways to get this, is decreasing the minutes or slowing the game speed, that makes the game annoying. Do you know if there is any possible way to decrease them, besides theses two :?:
Cheers!

Try editing other sliders

Hello Pera!
I´m not sure, but I don´t think that editing other sliders is the solution... Anyways, nothing to lose, so I will search for other decent sliders. By the way, thanks for the answer.
Cheers!

Maybe waiting about 16-20 secs till shooting a basket will lower FG attempts?

I think the only way to get a realistic results is the slider + your playing style,

Not to get into a big slider discussion since we have a sticky for that, but I find a combination of slider tweaks works fairly well.

The field goal sliders, first and foremost: reducing these reduces the number of field goals made. Even if attempts a bit higher than normal, it will even out because they'll be fewer makes.

Game Speed: I personally feel slowing the pace makes it more realistic, but I realise not everyone shares this point of view. I don't think slowing the game down eliminates challenge, just prevents them from getting up and down the court a little quicker than is realistic and thus lowering scores.

On-Ball Defense: Raising the on-ball defense makes it tougher to drive, forcing more jumpshots and both teams to use a bit of strategy to get an open shot or risk getting the 24 second violation. It's not guaranteed but making the game tougher in this regard does seem to have good results in forcing both teams to use up more of the shotclock. Oh, and it keeps things challenging as well which is what most of us want as well. :)

Thanks for the welcoming! By the way, I also like CB4 pretty much!

That´s true, but in this game the chance of getting an open alone shot is very little, so if I got one when 10 or 11 seconds are gone, I won´t let it go, neither any NBA player (I suppose). And a run-and-shot strategy is sometimes effective (Suns?).

Yes... well, I think I found yesterday the best way: 9 minutes per quarter and my sliders, that like Andrew said, I will post in the Sliders Thread

Sorry. I thought there was any solution besides the sliders... That´s the reason I put this thread in this forum :?

I didn´t realise that, I will give a try at my sliders and will tell you the results.
Thanks for the answers, guys!

No apology necessary, that wasn't directed at you. I was just saying that in case this thread turned into another slider discussion thread, when we've already got a sticky for that.

Yeah, I know. I have developed my sliders looking those. Thanks for your job, Andrew. This is a great page :!: By the way, I think I have solved the question of this thread. I have decreased the minutes of playing to 9 with pretty nice results. Thanks for the answers.
Cheers!
