When you sign FA's

Mon Apr 17, 2006 2:05 pm

Just curious. When i sign FA's to 2+ year deals, I always do -8% deals, to help the future. Do you give them declining contracts as well, 0% changers, or an increase in pay over the years?

I try to do that with aging players as often as possible.

When I'm signing players I like that are on my team already, I give them like 20k more than they ask for with 5% increase over 6 years :?

depends on your cap situation....if you are looking at opening up cap space in future years, you will frontload the contract....if you are trying to add a player but don't have much cap space to start with then you'll need to backload it....all depends on what your 2-3-4-5 year plan is....
