Game Crashing with new jersey

Tue Apr 04, 2006 12:56 pm

Alright, well i've created this new jersey, and the game crashes every time i try to play with the jersey. I made the jersey last night but it had no preview. I read in several places that game crashing is normal if you have no jersey preview, well, i've successfully created a jersey preview that works nicely, except the numbers are messed up, so now i know that the game crashing in fact has nothing to do with the jersey preview, since it works fine, any ideas on what exactly may be happening with my game crash?

could it how i edited the dbf line for the new jersey? I used custom colors from the hex option under the calculator, do i need to use standard colors like the ones provided on the list from the NLSC?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

well you dont need a preview jersey will work withou 1. the color thing could be a prob btu more than likely youve named something wrong. i would open up the viv file extract everything and make sure all files are named properly, and make sure to hit the rebiuld botton a couple of times when you recompile the viv.
usually when a jersey i made dont work i just named one of the files wrong.

well i've looked through my file names and they're all correct, and i've also redone the dbf colors to the standard ones on the nlsc colors chart, and the game still crashes, at this point im not sure what to say, perhaps i'll just make a request for someone else to do the jersey in the patch request thread because i've about had it with this whole jersey thing.

The only other thing i could possibly think of that it could be is this.....

Since i followed bassman58's jersey tutorial, he had me use a phoenix practice jersey as my base. When i was done making the jersey, i had used the colors light blue, black, and white, and i realized that the numbers for the phoenix practice jersey, as well as the letters, were orange, so it wouldnt work out. So, i imported the numbers from the denver home jersey and decided to use them. Perhaps i left out an import here or there so there are conflicting text/number types between denver and phoenix, but i didnt change the text till after i tried to do my jersey preview, which didnt help my crashing problem at all.

The last thing is since i used a live 05 jersey base, perhaps that is causing a confliction between live 05 and live 06, or the jersey size isnt correct or not compatible. Anyway, unless someone has any other ideas i think i've just about had it with this jersey as it is pissing me off majorly and the process is far too tedious for me. I can understand how some people can make jersey after jersey with all the work that goes into it.

NBA Live 06 jerseys have three elements. The uniform, the letters and a lighting layer. Using FshX you can see these three elements when you open a jersey FSH file. Start with an 06 jersey as a basis. Find one with the correct color numbers and correct letters for the name otherwise you'll have more work to do. Take small steps when you first start jersey editing. Import the jersey first. Then worry about the letters and/or the numbers.

so if i had three basic colors for my jersey (light blue, black, and white) and then the phoenix red for the numbers and letters and all that, that could be the source of the crashing?

The colors of your new jersey will not cause a crash. It can cause the team to wear the wrong color. It doesn't matter which team you use as a basis. Since you want blue letters for the name on the back of the jersey use the as50home.viv as the basis. Using BigGUI or DOLLFIN Live extract the four files. Re-name these files and the viv file for your team who is using the Smurf uniform. For example if Denver is going to use the uniform the change the names to denvc06h* (or whatever you like, denvsmrf* would work). Copy denver's home jersey record in teamgear.dbf. Append and copy this record to the bottom. Change the ID number to the next in sequence. Change the SHPNAME. Change any other info necessary. Import the jersey and the lighting using FshX in to the FSH file. Import the new files into the VIV file (delete the old ones) using BigGui, then rebuild 5 or 6 times. Copy the new VIV file to the SGSM/Uniforms folder. Start the game, re-load your roster. Select your team and the new uniform even if you have no preview. Start a game. The jerseys should load correctly. If your uniform numbers are the wrong color or in the wrong position, fix them later. Get the uniform to load in the game first.
