Thoughts on Dan Gadzuric and Joe Smith

Fri Mar 17, 2006 7:56 am

Dan Gadzuric seems overpaid for $4.75M. What do others think?

Is he really that good? Does he get better?

I traded him (and Reece Gaines) for Jonathon Bender (about $6.5M per) - while Bender can't rebound or block quite as well, he's not horrible...and he has the arsenal to get me 20+ pts if I really need it.

Also, Joe Smith doesn't seem to have a lot of offensive skills left. He's paid about $6-8M and doesn't seem to offer much on the offensive end. What do others think?

While I have some sentimental attachment due to watching him since his first college game, I feel like I could get much better value than his salary.

Jonathon Bender and Joe Smith for Grant Hill or Penny Hardaway. Would this work? I'd be happy to play small for the season if it meant clearing $15M at the end of the year.

If you find they're not working out for you, I'd consider dealing them. I know how it is when you like their real life counterparts and if you're a fan of realism sending key players away does sometimes feel a bit awkward/unrealistic but if they're not doing the job for you and you'd rather clear the cap room, I say go for it.

Yeah - Plus, I think Glenn Robinson would still have some good ball in him. It's a crime that he's sitting on the FA list.

What do you think?

Definitely agree as far as Robinson's concerned, but I'd pick up Penny over Hill if you want to clear the cap space. I think he'd be better off alongside Big Dog since he's more suited to playing both guard spots.
