I think PHX has like 2.08 mil or something, what are the other team's beginning cap spaces for coaches, and how does it determine the amount it goes up by each year.
Mon Feb 13, 2006 5:35 am
I think it's completely random (at least when you start the first season), and it seems to lie between 1.90 and 2.30...
I remember trying it a few months ago, where I started a dynasty, checked how much space I got, and then did it again; The second time I had about 0.20 mil more.

Although I believe that if you make the playoffs, your cap space goes up.

mm i started a pistons, and got 2 mi.
Tue Feb 14, 2006 2:41 pm
The highest i have had is 2.36 Mill and the lowest is 1.79
Tue Feb 14, 2006 2:42 pm
i always get like 1.79 with the blazers everytime i start with them

on my last dynasty (before 2 of my best players on the team were injured in the 1st game of the 2nd season and were both out for over half the season, i was forced to delete it and start over), i had 2.36 million with the Celtics
Thu Feb 16, 2006 4:19 am
i once got 2.41 mil at the start. it all seems pretty much random
Fri Feb 17, 2006 7:45 am
i did a celts and got 1.86
Tue Feb 21, 2006 3:40 pm
It's random. I've gotten anywhere from 1.72M to 2.22M with the same exact team (Clips).

half the season you say? the longest i've gottten is an 8 week injury, thats like 1.75 months, how did you manage half the season? was it repetitive injuries?
Tue Feb 21, 2006 5:00 pm
I had a Voshon LEnard Injury that took him out for 11 weeks.
Wed Feb 22, 2006 12:26 am
about 1.86 mill with the Knicks
I had about 2.6 or something like that with the Sixers though...
Thu Feb 23, 2006 7:19 am
yeah i did a fantasy Cavs, and got 2.31. So I have a Grade A trainer, a grade A Ass Coach, and a decent scout I think...
Thu Feb 23, 2006 9:04 am
i had 2.36 with cavs one time and got 2 asst coaches, one b+ in everything with big man spec., the other a- off and b- def with shooting spec., i got two scouts, one i think was b- and other was crap like d+ or something, and a c+ trainer, thats the best staff iv ever had

I think 10 weeks is the most.. I got a message in my PDA Deshawn Stevenson was gonna be out for 13 weeks but when I checked the injury report it said 10 weeks... I have never seen an injury longer than 10 weeks.

Breaking away from the main topic slightly, what's the biggest save you've made on hiring staff. e.g. if an assistant coach is asking for $800k, how much under that have you got them for.
The only reason I ask is because most teams get about $1.8-2.2m in coach space and yet still manage to get two good coaches, a scout and a trainer.
Thu Feb 23, 2006 2:11 pm
usualy about 25-80k, so if a guy is askin 750, i usualy offer about 680 or so, it depends
Thu Feb 23, 2006 2:25 pm
Trainer doesn't help. I had an A trainer and in that season i signed him
Bogut - went out for 8 weeks - during the end
Telfair - Went out for 11 weeks
I had other injuries also... but minor 4 week injuries

When saving, I usually count the clicks I make on the arrow for decreasing the amount. I noticed that when the coach ranking is around the C- area, it is easy to lowball them by around 20 'clicks', which could amount to 200k to 300k. when they are rated b or so, they usually hate being lowballed by more than 12-15 'clicks', which could be 100-200k.
On a different note, any of you guys ever 'cheat' and edit the coach ratings after the preseason? I usually do it, before simulating the first day of the season. I change the coaches and their contracts into someone I like. I usually also choose former stars as coaches for my team, say Stockton for my Utah dynasty, and I even get high offense/defense attributes in addition to the sentimental high.

this is dumb.
I did the knicks, the most expensive team, and how much do they allot me for coaches? 1.86 mil. WTF? IF you spend that much on crap players, spend on coaches too >:O
Thu Mar 02, 2006 10:49 pm

It's funny...Whenever you get 2.0+ Mil. for your coaches, all the assistant coaches either tend to suck ass, want a higher pay, or a short contract. There's usually only two or three A+ coaches as well. But when you have below 2.0, there are like 7 coaches with an A+ rating, and are willing to sign for practically nothing.
