A GOOD aiact.viv

Sat Jan 07, 2006 2:21 pm

Several aiact.viv files have been created. They are all so so, but fail to capture realism. Here's what I would like to request... (if this is easy and somebody wants to post steps, I'd love to make it myself)

- More alley-oop animations. The use 'ko be' has done this very well in his aiact.viv. Everything other than the crazy one-hand slam (which has GOTTA go) is awesome, and some simple alley-oop dunks would be great to have as well.

- Better put back offensive rebound dunks. Again, 'ko be' did a great job at this. Other than guys like Chauncey Billups seemingly being able to do the same ones as Kobe, they're spectacular.

- Make a majority of the default dunks and layups simple and more realistic. There's some simple 2 handed layups that bank off the backboard that should make up like 75% of the layups that actually occur. alexmary has them as Power FSS abilities. I'd like to see them as default layups for big men, with simple one handed layups for smaller guards. They are by far the most realistic.

- NO awkard runners!! Somehow these make it into every single aiact.viv. They are horrible looking, rarely if ever go in, and should be taken out of the game completely.

For FSS Abilities:

Outside Scorer:
- Maybe one very simple one or two handed dunk. Remember that players like Allen Iverson and Jason Terry are Outside Scorers, so you can't give them these huge dunk animations. They should have several types of flashy layups, as well as shot types including the fade aways and turnaround jumpers, including the ones where the legs kick up (those are shots that Kobe, etc. take constantly). Maybe even give them one or two of the Shooter FSS abilities (but not the quick jumpshot via Pass Button; that should be exclusive to Shooters). Keep in mind, players like Jason Terry, Allen Iverson, and other guys who aren't the dunkers that Kobe Bryant are have Outside Scorer abilities, so leave the dunks for specific dunkpacks for Kobe, Vince, & Co.

Inside Scorer:
- One or two simple one and two handed dunks. Nothing powerful or dominant. alexmary's I believe Dunk Button inside FSS two handed Dunk is perfect. Several types of big man simple layups (nothing flashy or double clutch) and hook shots as well as short range one handed type shots. None of the fade aways or jumpers that the Outside Scorers have. Keep in mind, you want to picture Elton Brand, Jermaine O'Neal, Pau Gasol, among others like that doing these moves.

Highflyer:
- The flashy layups and some impressive dunks. Try and eliminate most of the ones you've seen once in your lifetime, or maybe just give them one radical dunk, but remember, keep it realistic. They should have about equal number of dunks and layups, to keep it realistic and mixed up. I'd say replacing a couple of the default ones with some flashy layups would be enough to make the Highflyer perfect.

Power:
- A variety of most of the default Power dunks, along with some of the Highflyer Dunks and any strong layups that there are. No flashy, clutch layups or shots, for the love of God. Think Shaq for the strong Power moves, and believe it or not, Lebron for the athletic Power moves.

Playmaker:
- Default. Unless there's some cool pass you can sub in for a different one. Don't go adding layups, shots, dunks, etc. Unnecessary and stupid.

Outside/Inside Stopper:
- Default.

Shooter:
- Default. Only change that could be made are adding those default Outside Scorer turnaround shots and clutch shots instead of some of the default ones. Make sure to keep the fake pass shot and the short jump shot.

I think the entire community would embrace an aiact.viv such as this one, as realism is constantly being preached, and I feel this provides the best, most realistic gameplay environment possible. Simplicity is key, as 99% of what happens in the NBA is exactly that. So, if anybody is willing to make something like this, or teach me how to if it's not too difficult, I'd love to get this ball rolling.

Thanks.

hmm can i ask u something
i tested out alexmary and revolution's a while back when i was on holiday... i wasnt satisfied with them so i switched back to the originals. then i saw cyberfunk's patch, and i saw half of the comments were postive while the others are negative, so i didnt try it out. the newest one posted by ko be...i havent tested it either, but u guys said its great. can u tell me which one u liked the most so far? i need reassurance lol..

See, that's the thing. I like portions of each, but hate other portions of them, so I'm most happy with the default until I can find one like what I outlined above. ko be has sweet put backs and alley-oops that I didn't see with the other ones, and I'm not sure I tried cyberfunk's. You have a link to it?

Yeah, that one's my least favorite of the 3. Each of the other 2 has it's good and bad points, but until I can find one like the above that actually makes gameplay better and more realistic instead of making every player in the league to dunks that only T-Mac, Vince, and few others can do, the default is your best bet.

If it's not too difficult, and somebody makes a tut, I will make the one I've described. Otherwise, I hope someone is willing.

I say eliminate the extremely flashy dunks all together. You dont see them that often anyways.

I'm with you. That's why I say, maybe put one in for Highflyer in their entire arsenal, and then if a patcher must let loose, do it via the alley-oops, but don't put that crazy one hander in, and make it so only guys with a specific dunkpack that we can assign to Vince, and few others, can do them.

Realism is preached left and right here, until we actually find an opportunity to do it to gameplay ourselves, and fix what EA botched. I really hope somebody is willing to undertake this or make a tut so I can.

im with ya bigh0rt! ko_be's posted aict is good but some plays are not realistic like for example i played against clippers then on a offensive put back shawn livingston made a from the back one hand power jam follow up dunk. i mean whoah. that shit is crazy..

hope they make a tutorial...

Tue Jan 10, 2006 5:02 pm

I'd love a tut. I'd design all new FFS moves, and re-do every dunkpack (if possible) so they fit all types of players...
