My ideas for Freestyle Superstar

Thu Dec 29, 2005 2:58 am

1.) Instead of having to choose what superstar your player is, for instance LeBron James, he should have all of his FSS features in game. He can be automatically set on scorer but you should be able to change it ingame, for instance, L1(or the FSS trigger)+any direction on the DPad should scroll through his freestyle options. That way, if you're running on the fast break with LeBron and you want him to do a reverse windmill, simply change him from a scorer to a high flyer.

It's kinda like changing weapons in a FPS. Why shouldn't AI be able to do a double clutch layup on one possession and throw a behind the back pass on the next? Why can't T-Mac go up and under once and dunk on someone the next time? The only thing that could be a drawback is that while changing the freestyle feature, you'd take your thumb off of the left analog which would control the player and make him stop.

2.) How about some freestyle superstar dribbling moves. We have triple threat moves, but why not some crossovers and stuff? Ball handling is an important way of freeing up a shot. Look at DWade, he should be able to pull some electric crossover moves, not the same ones as Jiri Welsch.

And possible some "broken ankle" animations. It should happen rarely, but the defender could anticipate wrong and run in the wrong direction.

And in dunk on animations, they don't have to be big time crotch in face slams. EA should incorporate some like "dunk bys" like Dwyane Wade had last night. Not necessarily alot of contact.

i like it, because the focus of your offense or defence changes as the game goes on. For instance in my dynasty I have Bibby as a playmaker but Bosh got injuried so Bibby had to up his game so to speak and take more shots. If this was possible it wud allow me to make Bibby a shooter and help my team tremendously in the process

I'd personally like the ability to mix, match and assign FSS moves. As you said, a player like AI has quite a few weapons/moves in his offensive arsenal and may well make a fancy pass in the same game that he scores off an up-and-under. Switching the triggers would be fine but I think allowing players to have their own "moveset" would be effective too.

Great idea and also they should make it so you can create a fss move.

i think a custom moveset would be good so the freestyle button + X could do a no look pass whilst the FS button + O could do an up and under

I wish there was a flopper fss

Something else I thought of was different degrees of FSS.

For instance:
Shawn Marion is a highflyer, but he's not Jason Richardson.
You'd have like 3 categories of each. Chauncey Billups would be like category 1 playmaker with a few trick passes, like a behind the back and no look, Steve Nash would be category 3 with no looks, behind the backs, between the legs, behind the head etc.

Amare would be a category 2 power player, Shaq would be category 3.

Ron Artest would be category 1 inside scorer, Chris Bosh category 2, and Tim Duncan or KG category 3. Each category has a different moveset, which would probably be easier to implement then player specific movesets.

Not a bad idea at all, especially if multitalented players won't have a combination of FSS moves. That's perhaps a more logical or at least likely progression of FSS than mixing and matching moves. I'd still love to see personalied movesets though.
