Classic Arenas?

Mon Nov 21, 2005 2:32 pm

Is it possible to add new arenas into the game in the same manner as a uniform, by which I mean by adding a new addition onto the end of the .dbf file? It'd be nice to play in some on the old floors, even if the surrounding building isn't exactly a perfect model. For example, finding a similar (or just generic) arena that's already in-game and re-skinning it to match some other court, like say Boston Gardens, The Spectrum, or the Richfield Coliseum. Classic matchups would be able to be settled there without overwriting the current courts as well. I enjoyed the classic stadiums in the MVP series and always wanted to run some of the old courts without swapping files around when I want to play with current rosters rather then a "Classic Teams" roster (something I toy with in each sports game I get, but rarely get anywhere). Just re-skinning a current court could be a quick-fix for the restless like me without having to fuss with modelling something from scratch. Does anyone have any idea about this, one way or the other?

You can replace any of the All-star courts with any other court as long as you rename every .fsh, .ebo, .o etc file in the viv also. That gives you 5 lame courts you can overwrite. Then there's the European, the International, the Rookie, and the RBK Allstats courts you can overwrite also.

For example, I deleted the 80's court (as80.viv), replaced it with Detroit's court, imported Spurs logos into the fsh files, and redid the colors in the ebo file to make the Alamodome, and here's the result:

I also made a Chicago Stadium court to replace the 90s one, but I'm having trouble with the graphics when I import them. All the floor logos are stretched a lot and when I import them from png with fshx they become jagged. I just got the Photoshop dds plugin though, so I'll try to see if fshx does a better job importing from dds, although I'm scared the problem might be that court graphics are done in 8-bit palette color, which would make them way harder to do. :(
