any differences playing at home court and on the road?

Sat Nov 12, 2005 8:46 pm

I can't figure out any differences
any advantages/disadvantages?

Sat Nov 12, 2005 9:24 pm

Only difference is the fans cheering for your team at home and for the opposing team on the road.

I always thought that there is something in the dbf files that make home court advantage for different home teams...

It does...it doesn't seem to have any effect in the games themselves though. Or at least we just don't notice it

It could just be me, but it seems like my outside shooters are better at home than away. I always assumed it was some subtle "home court advantage" code. Like Stephen Jackson. He shoots about 40% from outside the arc in Indy, but he's much worse (like 15%) away.

It's not like the NCAA games, though. In March Madness it used to give that little momentum meter (does it still do that? I haven't picked it up for two years). It made a huge difference in the game. Too much, really.

Ever notice even when you win an away game, the crowd cheers at the end?

Tue Nov 15, 2005 3:57 am

Aside from the crowd that really puts me in the game which, in effect, virtually gives me an advantage, I would say a player's stamina bar recovers faster when playing at home than on the road.

I think there is a DBF file where it says home advantage. I played with the Nuggets, and at home their alley-oops connect a lil more than on the road.

It's been a field in the dbf for a long time, I'm not sure how much effect it has though. It might be even one of those things that more experienced/skilled players don't really notice.

Its cool how they chant your name if you are on the home team.

yeah, i notice that too when im playing dynasty. i use LA Lakers and they keep chanting kobe's name when he gets hold of the ball. during those times kobe, will make most of the shots he attempts -- like 98% of the time. that pumps me up. i think thats a cool innovative feature.

Yea, I also love it in my Dynasty when I pass the ball to KG and they chant "Reggie! Reggie!".

What happen to the feature that the old live had? When you shot free-throws the croud had them white things they waved in the away team shooter's sight.

I guess with the old cross off to the side and the little ball being white it would had been more effective then.

They should do something like have fans with camera's that make the screen flash somewhat. I know that would throw me off.

Also I think camera's flashing when people shoot or go for a dunk and ect should be all over the crowd. Thats all you see in real games is tons of flash bulbs going off the whole game.

I think it would make gameplay be a little more intense, kinda like it is to hear the crowd cheer after go baseline with vince and play leap-frog with someones face.

I remembered before (in 04 especially) when your opponent is at the FT line you can repeatedly press the shoot button to make the crowd go nuts, that was a nice thing to do.

Wed Nov 16, 2005 1:29 pm

Jump shots seem to sink alot more at home than on the road, especially at the end of the game.

They say "Reggie", right? Not KG. I'm 95% sure the crowd chant "Rae-Gie".

Then you must have a hearing problem

you could? good how they explain that in the manual

Home team seems to get the lion's share of calls in a game.
