how do you stop an Alley Oop?

frustrated new poster! - my friend just beat me with straight up nothing but alley oops. Jason Kidd to Amare, Dalembert, and Gadzurich dunking over Shaq, Garnett and Rasheed. what's the deal with that?

Anyone find a way to stop someone from killing you with the alley oop button? it was all he did I kid you not.

I tried 2-3 zone, Box and 1, even tried slapping a full court press on him. Larry Hughes couldn't strip Kidd and it was just Alley Oop fest for him.

How sad if this game has lost playability after a week due to all the alley ooping.

Well first of all, he is a fucking pussy for playing like that
Bitch smack him and dont play again with him until he plays like a true gamer, make him earn his points
If you still want to play with him and he does this your just gonna have to practice timing it down, try and get someone with a good block rating, like you said you have Shaq and just time it. Its gonna take a lot of practice to do it this way so i suggest you resort to the first option

thanks man I agree with you. I called him every name in the book but he's one of those dudes that hates losing. he found his bread and butter play and he's gonna run that crap on me all the time now.

Well if he sucks at freethrows put the slider down and beat him at his own game by intentionally fouling his ass everytime down the court lol. Maybe he will want you to stop bad enough he will too. Just an idea

just jump right when the dude is about to catch the ball or a bit before that an du should be fine. or just punch him in the face or something. or when he is gone, change the sliders to fuck him over.

Those alley-oop really depend which team you play with. My brother plays the 76ers and damn, those guys almost always gets the oop down to go. Then he tried playing with other teams, but have trouble with it. And yeah the alley-oop thingy sucks big time!

Instead of calling him names, make your own alley-oop team and just do what he does... Maybe then he will see the senslessness of his doing...

It would be fair for all sides in question, to just drop the dunk and lay-up sliders way down, so you'd have to do other stuff to get your points.

I did this in 2005 already... The dunking was too easy so I adjusted it so that dunking slider was lowest of the offensive sliders...

You can adjust the sliders to make the game more realistic...

I hate those guys that just abuse something when they find a hole in the game... It's just sad and takes the pleasure away from the gaming especially when playing with friends. It ain't fun like that...

Better yet, make a team of shooters and rain downtown everytime he does an alleyoop.

i think pressing steal when he's about to get the baller would make your defender jump up and steal the ball or get set up for a foul when he goes up for an alley-oop. that help?

Why are you guys pist at people doing ally-opps..you should be pist at the fuckers who created the game and make it so simple to do ally opps..Decresing adjustment shot % doesn't even do anything..Live people suck!

there are exploits to the game no doubt.. ea don't seem to have the time or the inclination to develop this into the multiplayer game that it should be.. in online leagues people set their own rules for fair play.. if he doesn't want to play a fair game then he doesn't get to play you..

are we talking about alley-ooping in the half court aswell or just on the breaks.. if its in the half court as well then you need to take control of ur PF or C and deny the lanes.. when you see the lob go up hold the take charge, hold firm against the player receiving the alley or try to block.. only problem is that the ai won't defend the perimeter as well as a player can.. if he's in the same room just beat him the fuck up

Well just about every second guy down at the ea server plays like this with the constant alleys or just basicaly dunking all game.

For us aussies its hard enough to play d with the lag as it is at ea servers impossible to stop it when its totaly abused.

Hense why i dont bother too much with ea server thank fuck for the ALO all aussie league, best online league by a mile and most guys down there play as normal a game as youll see.

basically eh is gonna kill you until you develop a denfese. but defense against an alley-oop is almost impossible. it can be done though. my homeboy in nba live 05 online WON ALL HIS GAMES LIKE THAT. he was rated like a 1800+ off beating people and like 99% of his points came from alleys, so basically, if someone learns to throw them very well, YOU'RE GONNA GET BEAT!
