I like horrys reaction after the game winner. Who's playing that though man... CALL FOR A SCREEN!

Good to see the CPU team running screens though at least, if not full plays.

2004ish Play

Thu Aug 25, 2005 10:06 am

The play in that vid looked very 2004ish. It was very easy to slide around the defense and score at will, and the only real stops came on blocks or missed mid-range jumpers. Most of the three pointers, even with men in their face, dropped.

Also interesting was that James took about one shot in all the time in that video. Even down the stretch, the only people to shoot for the Cavs were Snow and Ilgauskas. That also is very 2004, that the PG takes 90% of the shots and the center scores on rebounds.

Also Maun seemed unstopable.

I liked the short video to a certain extent, it looked pretty good. I just didn't like how the two players were incapable of stopping Larry Hughes going for a dunk.

For the second video, I just cannot understand who the fuck would lob a slow pass to somebody wide open under the net, that's only going to be wide open for a split second before a defender comes. That flaw was from 2005 and it's still there. My god, the passing, the behind the back block (still there!) is so similar to 2005 that it's pathetic. What the hell is up with the celebrations? I've never seen Horry do a celebration after a 1st quarter three pointer in my life. I hated how Eric Snow did those awful "crossovers." Looked like he was skating back and forth. I liked how the ball bounced off the rim before going in; so now it doesn't guarantee a miss, which is good. EA could learn something from me, or actually start reading criticism and improve on it :x

still too many blocks . . . let's hope that the blocks slider was way up . . .

Thu Aug 25, 2005 12:35 pm

Too easy to score. Both teams must have shot over 60%.

Thu Aug 25, 2005 12:39 pm

Great vid...crazy buzzer beater...Horry went crazy

Thu Aug 25, 2005 1:07 pm

Big Shot Rob did it again! Good footage. (Y) Lots of superstar icons on the Spurs team. (Figures since they won the NBA title)

Thu Aug 25, 2005 1:44 pm

i wanted to see King James dominate... looks like they have his primacy lower than it should be.. but thats easy to fix..

anyways yeah the blocks down low were wack.. and the lob passing is retarded as can be.

liked the screens the CPU was doing though..

LeBron better be rated in the 90's or i am going to break my disc in two when i get it

and i love the new floaters they added in the game, the one Manu did was niceeee. the lean in shot ehhh i wont be doin that during a game.. its too corny IMO. J-Rob needs to learn how to play NBA Live.. i'd literally beat this scrub by 30+

games gonna be good, WHY CANT WE SEE GAMEPLAY ON SIDELINE CAM or a better one than this gay ass baseline view. the worst view ever.. period

These forums should have an IGNORE function like on AIM, that would really be useful.

Primacy has nothing to do with James not scoring. If you play against the computer, the PG and Center take about 95% of the shots. Star players, ability, etc. doesn't matter.

Thu Aug 25, 2005 3:14 pm

wasn't snow playing the point?

Shooting sliders were obviously too high, Snow made a three to tie the game, that gave it away right there.

The Good:
- I know their are sliders and some things can be fixed
- Robert Horry reaction after game winning shot, and the whole reaction scheme after that

The Bad
- Dribbling and moving on offense while not using freestlye is attrocious, too much sliding, and that high super fast dribbling is just disguting and ugly. If you keep moving left to right, they keep doing it at super speed, it's ugly!!!
- Too easy to dunk inside, post players still get some weird position because of the bad collision detection in one on one post situations.
- Zydrunas Ilguaskas dribbling on the perimeter
- Computer still not calling plays, it's still freestyle basketball 2006
- Defenders when challenging shots, layups, or dunks, just jump up, they don't seem to have a feel for where the ball or their man is.
- Still have the suction blocks. One time I was playing, and I was going for a two-handed dunk, then I switched to a one handed layup and got blocked from behind . Every layup, dunk, and shot animation needs to have it's own block animation.
- Seems like the same thing from last year will happen again, the weak post, interior, and player to player collision will make it that every strong PF/C who can dunk will be averaging 5 dunks a game. I actually try not to press the dunk/layup button with post players, but sometimes you can't even get shots over defenders because they all elevate like Marion. Shaq averaged 3.5 dunks a game last year and led the league, many players will be beating that.

This is how you block from behind on a two handed dunk:

Biggest needs for the game in 360 and future versions: Totally improved collision all over the floor, and especially on the interior, and a totally new dribbling system, when not using freestlye dribbling. If these things aren't fixed, I'll be overly dissapointed.

:applaud: Best post in this thread, by far. You put into words exactly what I was seeing, but I wasn't able to articulate it as well as you did. Definitely EA needs to work on the collison detection, and really, that's what they should've done. I saw way too many throwbacks from 2005 that hasn't been changed. I don't understand why they're reusing the old stuff because I haven't seen too many new significant changes.

What happened to Lebron James? apparently Larry H is the new goto guy for the Clevelands now, he seems to be taking all the shots now lol

Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:31 am

If I'm not mistaken, I think it's user controlled.

Sat Aug 27, 2005 10:24 am

You really must hate nba live...i have not heard one thing good outta any of ur posts that u put up lol.

Sat Aug 27, 2005 11:26 am

lol, I've been playing since Live 95. I have high expectations, and I'm just sick of being disappointed every year. There's some good aspects of Live 06, but so far I've seen a lot of recycled material.
