Live 2006 requirements

Thu Aug 25, 2005 2:31 am

Okay, so I'm buying a new computer, and I want to be sure that I'll be able to play Live 2006 and Madden 2006 on it, but I don't want to spend too much money. What sort of specification do you think I should be looking at?

maybe a sony

Buy a 6600GT + 1GB RAM + Athlon64 processor. That should be enough..

How much money is not too much money? Athlon64 processors and RAM are fairly cheap at this time of the year.

get a 64 mb video card

get at least 2 ghz

get at least 512 mb

it will run fine

i would recommand a 128mb video card.
live 06 has new graphic engine.

2nd that. This is a middle road solution that should run the games fine.

you should get a good video card, too!

Okay, let me word it better, sorry:

Will 256mb RAM and 64 mb graphics be okay, or will I need to go up to 512 and 128? Or is 128 not even high enough for the graphics card? I can't really afford anything higher than 512/128, but I do really want to be able to play the new Live and Madden...

Oh yeah, and does anyone know of any good PC deals/good places to buy PCs for this kind of spec?

You are obviously strapped for cash at the moment. My advise is to hold off, save up a bit and then buy a decent system.

ask1, that sig is hilarious!

guys u need at least 96 MB to play the game with the new graphics engine...so i say go for a 2.8 gHz preccesor....either that or just look to upgrade the one u have right now...might be cheaper that way. :D

I need a new graphics card. Any suggestions on what to get? And how much would that end up costing me?

Galaxy 6600GT

It depends on your specs and how much you are willing to spend. If you have a top of the line computer go for a high end 256 mb or a rare 512 mb... but assuming you don't want to spend upwards of $400. I would at least get a card with 256 mb of memory because otherwise it won't be too good for long...

This is exactly the reason why i stopped playing Live or any other game on PC. It seems like every year i have to upgrade something just to play the game. Unlike on console where you can just pop the cd in and play.

I agree with you totally, I remember upgrading my vid card spending like 450 bucks. Then going out an upgrading my harddrives and memory and sound cards spendin another 500 bucks. All this in a 6 month period.

I'm not gonna be spending another 1000 bucks to upgrade a computer I hardly play games on anyway.

I'd rather use that money to buy a XBox 360 , PS3, and start saving for a really good HDTV

Serious? I managed to play Live 2003 to Live 2005 without upgrading. Besides, if there was anything to upgrade, it'd be the video card.

u must have spent a lot on ur cpu in 03...cuz if u go for the top notch cpu then it will probably work for 2+ years of playing live...but if u get one that will be out dated soon or that u got ripped off on then u will probly be spending a lot every year.

Tue Aug 30, 2005 4:21 am

I didn't spend much. At the time Dell was making cheap but good systems. That's probably why I didn't buy one that would be outdated soon or get ripped off ;)

Tue Aug 30, 2005 6:57 am

Sid23....

In canada they have a deal on i think it is dell cpus...for like 400$...so in the USA u could probly get a fairly decent cpu for like 350 or something

Wed Aug 31, 2005 7:55 am

any computer from dell for 400$ isn't good...unless you are extremely strapped for cash.
