Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

such as players would go for more money or take a pay cut to play for a contender more realistic.

Yes, this would be better. I also don't like the way Free Agents act after Free Agent period, they (as in the players, that haven't been picked up) want more money. I don't understand this, I wish EA could find a way to get it into the AI that if you don't get picked up during Free Agent Period, the high chance of you getting picked up during the season is doubtfull.

I agree with this....one thing i didn't like was that players who were unrestricted free agents would test the free agent market, then when there was about 2 or 3 days left in signing, they would resign with their old team.....and this was with big name players, like Webber, Abdur-Rahiem etc.....i just think if a big time player decides to test free agency, the chances of him resigning with his former club is slim to none

Yea, I hope they add the mid level exception, cause that's basically how you can sign up solid free agents when you're over the cap.

You want to go back to the NBA Live 2004 way... You see Webber, Abdur-Rahim and the likes testing free agency and no one having the money to pick them up so they end up being in the free agent pool the following season...
I am quite sure that star players get offers from their original teams and take them if no one else is intrested... So they just accept those offers in the end. And the game is so much better due to the resigning star players.
It is only realistic that start play somewhere, be it the original team or not. NBA Live 2003 had always star players in the free agent pool that were willing to sign for the minimum pay to any team... Now that was bad! You could sign all the stars you wanted and not pay anything to them... That was a really good system, if you don't want to keep it real.
Let's just say that the current system is way better than anything they had before *period*

They should have some type of formula that the players use to sign with the teams it should be just money as said before. And also the players "price" should be different for each team depending on their playoff possibilities, championship posb. and such.
For Love or for Money. lol

How about this: during the free agent signing period we can offer players not only money, but more. We can, for example, promise them a playoff spot/ championship or a starting spot, and if we do promise something they like, their asking salary goes down. And if we don't meet the promises, they'll asked to be traded, or their ratings go down as they are not happy with the way the team is going.
Sun Jun 12, 2005 12:11 am
Yea but that would need like a players morale rating or something.
Sun Jun 12, 2005 1:32 pm
Promise them hot chicks, and if they are not happy, they ask to be traded, If they are happy, they turn into Shawn Kemp.
Sun Jun 12, 2005 7:14 pm
i think the current fa system is ok, but yes the paycut for an aging player with good ratings still wud b good.
but wot i think is good atm, i just won the championship with my bucks, and i added andreie kirilenko thru free agency in the summer, i didnt give him the best offer as otha teams did, but coz i won the championship he thought the teams current situation was a lot better than the other teams were ofering

Guys like JR Bremer shouldn't be demanding $4M a year,. that's for sure. The dynasty mode, especially the FA signings, needs some serious overhauls.
Fri Jun 17, 2005 3:05 pm
Yea... currently... the money they ask for is based on their overall rating. So if you train a guy hard and he has a much higher overall rating, you can bet his contract that he'll be asking for a much more lucrative contract.
Fri Jun 17, 2005 3:44 pm
did this ever happened to you: when you give a player a higher contract than what they asked for, they refuse to take it and you just have to give them the amount that they want.

I won't happen because that's too much for the EA guys - just my personal opinion.

they need to seriously rework the entire offseason imo. the free agent thing still sucks when compared to games like madden.
Sun Jun 19, 2005 3:00 pm
One problem is that the offseason is still too linear. It's calendar based these days which is great as we can make a few offers to players, but we still progress through the offseason in stages. Obviously, some dates such as the draft lottery and the rookie draft must be set, but if each day allowed teams to perform some kind of transaction - trade, re-sign players, court other free agents, cut players - it would be much more realistic.
Mon Jun 20, 2005 1:00 am
yea
We should be able to trade anytime during the offseason.

basicly nba live needs to steal maddens offseason and it will be 100 times better

Add a bit of ESPN 2K5 to that and we're good.

I hope it doesn't copy anything from Madden, overhyped and boring.

I would like them to have an off season closer to the real NBA. A simplified version of the cap.
At the end of the season, you have the chance to waive free agents to free up cap space (the AI never waives their best players). Then you have to re-sign your own free agents at the same time the AI is trying to sign them. You also get a MLE to sign new free agents. You can pay more for your own free agents (the AI calculates how much you can pay so you don't have to think about it). I think it would be more realistic, and if they do it right, it doesn't have to be confusing.

Now its all about money. Its not the way its in the NBA. Money plays a big role but as many people said so far, the tems playoff hopes and championship possibilities should play a very important. Also it would be cool if the players have a favorite team they want to sign with, for example their hometown team or something.
