Looking to buy '06

Postby rdelizo35 on Sat May 10, 2008 11:36 am

This message is to Andrew and anyone else who owns '06...

Can you tell me what the pros and cons of '06 is?

Is '06 better than '07 and '08?

Does '06 work with Vista ???

I already have '07 and '08, but I want '06 too just 'cuz I'm a big NBA Live junkie.

Oh, and does '05 support vista???

Thanks...

oh and yes, I'm a newbie

I don't have Vista so I can't comment on any compatibility issues, sorry.

The main pros of NBA Live 06 compared to the last two instalments is that it doesn't contain the same issues with fatigue or substitution logic and although it isn't perfect, is considerably less buggy than NBA Live 07 and NBA Live 08. It does however still have a problem with recalculating Primacy ratings but that's easily enough fixes with a batch file (you can even take that from the 07/08 updates). It's still my game of choice.

The main cons would be the lack of some features that were introduced in 07 and 08, such as team chemistry, rumours in Dynasty Mode etc. If you don't like Freestyle Superstars then 06 is arguably less desirable than 2005, though you can actually disable everyone's FSS movesets in 06. Presently there aren't as many updates being made but that will likely change with the NBA Live PC project.

Andrew,

So either your NLSC '07 or '08 Rosters will probably work on '06 right?

Thanks for the heads-up Jenner... maybe when I do get '06 I'll just fantasy draft my team like I do in '07 and '08...

just my opinion bro, the con for 06 is that if you have a roster patch installed in your game you wont be able to continue your dynasty after the first season..

Only if said roster patch has that issue. It's generally fixed by replacing the birthstate.dbf and birthtown.dbf with the default files. In any case, the problem lies with the roster, not the game. It's possible to update NBA Live 06's rosters and play multiple seasons in Dynasty Mode.

Well, if '06 don't work with Vista, then I'm just gonna probably wait until I can get a PS3 and get '09...
