[RETRO] Rookie add-on generator

Postby chipper on Tue Aug 15, 2006 1:42 pm

I am creating a rookie add-on generator. Basically it will keep a record of all the rookies in each year's draft along with their ratings, heights etc and generate .bat files to add rookies to an existing dynasty.

This is initially designed for Tony D's 97/98 retro roster patch but eventually, it will be able to generate a draft add-on for any historical seasons (e.g. 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 ,...., 2006, 2007..)

(3 .bat files will be generated for each year: players.dbf update, appearance.dbf update and a post-draft ratings update. SGSM files will be distributed seperately.)

Once NBA LIVE 07 comes out, I will be able to convert it so that it works with that too (and so on with 08, 09 ...)

Anyhow, I am still working on the actual generator but it shouldn't take too long. In the mean time, please do me a favor and update some data on the website. You don't have to update every player but if everyone contributes a little bit everyday, this should be done pretty quickly.

COMING SOON... 1998 rookie addon for Tony D's 9798 roster patch (http://www.nbaliveforums.com/ftopic37945.php)

It doesn't matter because I will back up the database everyday. Once we get a substantial amount of data, then I will lock it up and make it only editable by trustable people. For now, I need as many people to contribute.

birthdate goes year-month-date (for eg, today will be 20060814)

don't worry about how much you know as things can be easily fixed. It's always easier to fix than create fro the scratch so any input is appreciated :)

and while it's ok to test the page, try not to break what other people have inputted in the future. atm, there's not much you can break

you should actually be able to run the ratings bat before the draft instead of after, the rookie ratings are in a sequence of columns to the far right of the dbf, if you look at the numbers in those fields and make a note of one players, or even set one to all 99's, then run a draft in dynasty the players stats will be what those p-stat columns hold, though some will be a point or two off sometimes. i made a post in the patching section if you want to check it out.

Thanks for the information, jwin. ATM, I am having enough trouble filling up the general information. I'm really busy for the rest of the month so I have to rely on everyone` contribution.

Once what are already on the website are completed, I am going to set everybody's ratings to something like 70~80% of their peak ratings (since guys that are drafted in 1998 are pretty much having their primes right now, i hope i can just use current roster ratings). Then I will let everybody edit whatever they feel necessary (some guys were more/less developed in their rookie seasons etc) and replease everything in 1 .bat file

I make a backup everyday. Though it doesn't keep track of IP addresses of people who make modifications, I don't think anybody will mess it up just for the sake of messing it up.

Seriously, I want(need) to get as many people involved as possible. If someone hates it so much that they have to mess it up, then maybe i shouldn't make it.

Thanks for the input everyone! Looks like most of the main draftees are getting done. I wouldn't mind releasing only about 30 players out of 60 for each draft since most of them didn't stay in the league for long anyway.

By when do you think you will release this patch and I'm going to help out by filling out as much as I can like birthdays and dunkpacks.

I just got back from a 3-day camp. I am planning to have a 'generate' feature updated by the end of this week.

Thanks for helping out, wade_03
