Outside Stoppers - question about steal

Postby Bogusz_2003 on Wed Aug 09, 2006 4:15 am

Hey all!

I am playing NBA Live 06 on the internet (EA Online) since Sunday and today, I saw some new move (for me). I played against dude who controlled Cavaliers. There were two players James and Hughes, which are Outside Stoppers, right? And this guy. He used some new type of stealing, he just run towards me, tap something and the ball was throwed, or something like this, from my hands! I couldnt do anything, and i WASNT facing him, so it couldnt be easy steal(s)!!! He just run towards the ball and had easy basket and easy steal. It wasnt a normal steal (tapping a steal button only). I think it was combined with analog stick or something. Please, maybe somebody could explain it to me? What should i press do this steal? Thanks in advance! And sorry for my english ;)

well i dont understand clearly the situation because i dont know enough of live, but maybe its either
a) you are getting double teamed and they take the ball away from you.
b) they fouled you but ref didnt call it
c) they used a fss outside stopper move.

OK, so I WASNT double teamed.
He didnt fouled me (he did this steal MAAANY times, so it was completely clear)
So I think it must be some kind of a special outside stoppers move. But what should I press to do this? :(

yes he means that they used the FSS outside stopper move.

if u r near the ball handler and r a FSS outside stopper then press the FSS button and the steal button and it will do tricky steals

some people are just really good at stealing with an outside stopper, I have no idea how you can get consistently good at stealing with an outside stopper though.

z50bo - You mean I must press SUPERSTAR TRIGGER(button) and NORMAL STEAL? If yes... its not working I have done this before I posted a message :(
And jerry - no, I am asking for keys for PC. I have gamepad with two analog sticks but I cant figure out what I should use.

IVE GOT IT!! :) I used keyboard instead of gamepad and thats what we should press.
SUPERSTAR TRIGGER + CROSSOVER/SPIN MOVE + STEAL

Now its correct :) You can do a sticky :D

we dont need a sticky for this, everybody knows on pc with keyboard holding superstar trigger will activate the fss. its just that the thing is when you do this its really hard to get ahold of the person you are defending, and most of the time you will just get called for a foul. thats why i never really try this until i feel like its the right time. constantly doing this will get your player fouled out.

What do those buttons represent? I mean the various numbers. Like, is 6 for FSS, 5 for steal or what? I need to know how to do those steals. thanks.

It also involves context and timing. If you are 1-2 steps away from your opponent you will just do a regular steal attempt, 3-4 and at an angle you will reach around the dribbler and knock the ball loose. You can also steal a lot easier if the dribbler is backing down, or if your at an angle, than if your right in front of him.

If you have trouble with the CPU constantly driving on you with the point guard, try doing an outside stopper steal just as he passes you. This nearly always strips the ball, even if the CPU recovers it still breaks up the drive and eats up clock time.
