hold the ball with one hand

Postby samson on Mon Mar 20, 2006 11:38 am

theres this move that happens when you catch the ball sometimes, you hold the ball with one hand high in the air creating space between the ball handler and the defender.

does any body know how to do this move ?

Hold down on the right analog stick. The exact move the player will perform depends on their dribbling rating.

What rating do we need for that? Is that the Jordan ball-in-one-hand move?

That's right. Pretty sure that one's anything above 80 for dribbling.

Exactly. They're the ones with the highest dribbling ratings, after all.

As I said in that exact post you quoted, the actual move the player will perform depends on their dribbling rating.

naw' i'm talking about the jordan hold the ball thing. i seen it recently with a couple of players, like after they rebound and things of that nature.

i'm pretty sure that you don't have to have a great dribble rating since i've seen chris mihm and kwame brown perform the animation.

i don't know if its sumthing that just happens or what. i usally get it when they catch the pass and don't move, but i really don't know for sure.

That's right. (Y)

The move you're talking about is executed when you're in the triple thread position. Hold down on the right analog stick. If the player has a high enough dribbling rating (seems to be 80+), he'll perform that move. Otherwise he'll hold the ball up/back in a different way.

All versions. It should happen all the time if the player has the appropriate rating.

i tried holding down the right thumbstick but he held the ball wit one hand behind his back(i used AI and Marbury) but fortunately i tried the same move and happened to get Marbury to execute it but i still cant figure out why often the players hold the ball behind their back rather than how MJ held it up high in the air

that's just how they do it. only MJ can do it, because he is god.

That's how the move is represented in the game. There's another move where they hold it up higher, but that seems to be mostly used by big men.

yeah its the one where they hold the ball up higher. my mistake. i guess it just happens on occasion with a big man.

i've yet to get it to happen on command though. when i got a big guy and i press down on the right analog stick they just turn their back to the basket.

although i must admit that i've seen kobe do the move also.

Same method as described above, so long as you have a gamepad with two analog sticks.
