taking free throw shots

Postby samson on Mon Mar 20, 2006 2:07 am

when i play i use the lakers, and since kobe is a outside scrorer, i have a difficult time drawing the foul and going to the line when i use him.

If i use a guy like vince, or jerfferson, or wade ( highflyers ) i draw tri-ple the amount that kobe would .

should i just use kobe as a highflyer, or is there a move that outside shooters have that draw the foul more often ?

Go near the basket and do the Superstar up-and-under layup. Or just drive under the basket, fake, and u'll draw fouls easily.

If you want a player to shoot a lot of free throws (Superstar or otherwise), you'll need to take it to the hoop. Just as in real life, most shooting fouls occur in the paint since that's where most of the bumping and collisions happen. It's much harder to draw fouls when you take a lot of jumpshots.

I draw alot of free throws with Kobe, about 8-12 a game.

I like to get it at the 3pt line, jab step then drive and pull up for a mid-range jumper. Most times I will be wide open but if the defender is still on my ass then I normally pump fake then jump into him.

Do you fake and shoot? Or fake and go up for a layup/dunk?

Throwing a fake before attempting the shot around the basket (whether it be a dunk/layup or just one of the moves from the regular shoot button) does often help. Often helps avoid a block or being forced to adjust, too. :)
