Tutorial: How to create your own jersey trims

Postby stalker on Fri Dec 02, 2005 1:59 am

Decided to make a copy here of my trims tutorial and here it is.

This tutorial will guide you how to make your own trims.

note: I did the extracting by enlaging the jersey texture to 1024X1024 and a transparent background in photoshop.

Choose a jersey that you want to make your base. At this poin I choose the 70's Allstar away jersey for round neck and default shoulder trims.

Cut the shorts part of the jersey by using the "rectangular marquee tool"

Image

After cutting the shorts part area. Use the "magic wand tool" and put the tolerance to 100 and select the shirt part of the jersey. then press "delete key" or cut it.

Image

You will have this image as a result.

Image

Erase and clean the remaining part of the jersey to get the round neck trim and shoulder trim of the jersey. Her is the result of what did you do so far.

Image

Now you have the trims what will you do next?

just simply put a color overlay on the layer. and duplicate it and merge it both. As the reseult you will have a plain trims. Dont worry about the shorts cut you can guide yourself tru a jersey texture. By this time you can make a separate layer for both the neck and shouldert trims. You can do this on other neck trims if you like to. Just experiment till you get right.

Now for the trims effects.

I used Bokayo's Trim for NBA LIVE 2004 to do this. I enlarge the trims to 1024X1024 to do this.

Image

To do this select the trims you want to use. I choose the shoulder trims in this stage since its too simple to do this.

Now after selecting the trim use the "channel mixer and tick the monochrome option under it. The result will be like this.

Image

now use the "color replace adjustment" select the color area and adjust the lightness to your desire.

Image

now that you had change the color area. Zoom it till you can highlight the trims by using a "magic wand tool" adjust the toloerance 32 - 50 just experiment on it till you get what you like.

Image

After copying the trims and paste it on a new layer. zoom it again and select the area you wanna get by using the rectangular marquee and cutting and pasting it on a new layer. After that move that area to the jersey area you extracted awhile ago.

Image

After adjusting it to your specified area (I made it on the center area of the shoulder trims) "duplicate" it then transform it to vertical. It will give you somethin like this.

Image

now select the shoulder layer and put the rectangular marquee on the area where you putting your trims and nudge it a little. It will then select the desired area that you like. (pay attention to the image below. If you dont get what I mean.

press the left mouse key and click on select inverse.

Image

now go back to your trimmed layer and press delete key. You will have this as a result.

Image

yes you did cut the expess part of the trimmed texture. Now back to shoulder layer again and "contract" it to 20.

Image

Then select the trimmed testure layer again and press delete key. You will have this result after.

Image

After that dont click anythin. Go to your "Fill" tool and fill the area that you deleted.

Image

after you filled it contract it again this time " contract = 2" then pres delete key or cut it. This will clear the remaining area and you will have a complete clean trimmed texture.

Image

now your finish. You will now have a result like this. your clean shoulder area and your new trim effects.

Image

" You can do this also on the neck area. Just experiment the colors till you get what you desire. "

Or else ill release a MEGA TRIM UPDATES soon. which will include all neck areas and 3 shoulder areas.

Special tnx to Bokayo.
