Possible to play 06 well using KEYBOARD as controller?!!

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody can tell me if NBA Live 06 can be played well with the keyboard as controller (instead of a gamepad).

Fact is I love to use the keyboard as controller but can you do all (or at least all the essential) moves in 06 with the keyboard or do you really need a gamepad to play this game?!

If I use the keyboard as controller, what won't I be able to do compared to using gamepad or does keyboard cover all moves, or at least all the important moves you need in the game?!

Anybody can tell me more about this please cause I would really love to know this?! Thank very much for the help!!

Is it perhaps not possible to play it with the keyboard anymore, like is it not available as possible controller or how is that?!

Last time I played NBA Live was like 5 years ago and then it was possible to use the keyboard very well as controller. How is that now with 06?! Please let me know what you can and can't do with the keyboard as controller in 06!! Thanks very much!

I have a friend who plays with the keyboard and it works very well.
Although the FREESTYLE is limited (not the superstar abilities, only the, dribbling)

i think playin with a controller is worth it. i got this cheap rumblepad controller at walmart for like 15$ and it works fine for me.

but can you still do things like shooting, stealing with the keyboard only. Why aren't all moves possible with keyboard key combinations etc..

What exactly can and can't you do with the keyboard only. That's what I would love to know! Thanks!!

I've heard on here that you can't back down on keyboard.

Since I've played '04 a couple games thinking the back down button was useless [I finally figured out my keyboard configuration wasn't being saved-- since for some reason it's not part of the default setup], trust me, it'll suck if you buy it and don't have that option.

Wait till you can verify it with someone on this thread who has the game, or do a search of the forum before you buy it.

I'm an old man and I don't play any other video games besides b-ball, so I don't feel too motivated buying a gamepad strictly for one game.

If what I remember is true, I don't get it. They program all the other stuff to be controlled by keyboard...why leave out a couple of important moves???

Another example of how EA puts the customer first, I guess.

lol. i have been way to lazy to get a controller and have been playing on my laptop keyboard. you know in college... u just cant afford to spend shit on controllers...

First of all, what exactly is this back down button feature. What does it do and can anybody confirm that you can't do this with the keyboard. Why can't you do everything with the keyboard, I mean, it's not like there aren't keys enough on a keyboard and in the past you could always use combinations of keys to do everything, but that was some years ago. How is this now with 06? If I want to play with keyboard, should I buy it or will I won't I be able to do important moves and things in the game.

If this game plays only well with gamepad then I should perhaps better skip it, cause I simply enjoy playing these kind of games with the keyboard as controller. Not everybody is a fan of the gamepad.

Any other important things you can't do with the keyboard. Please list them all here so I know! Thanks very much!

If you back down another player you are basically pushing him toward the basket with your back so that you can make an easy dunk. Of course this is only useful for strong player. I played live 05 with keyboard and was able to do all basic and important moves, except some fabulous dribblings. But as for 06, in addition to my incapability to execute stunning dribbles, I am also unable to back down on people (The backdown key is replaced by freestyle superstar key) and execute all superstar moves. So it is at your discretion.
