how to edit databases without getting codebase errors?

is there any way to do this? or are all mass rating changes destined for failure

i think he meant if it is possible edditing the database(with dbf editor of course) W/O screwing up.....which is kind of what i had in mind :D

Use DB Commander rather than Excel for a start. Then there's specific ways you can cause errors but they are too numerous to list off the top of my head. You'd have to say what exactly you want to edit before I could offer any specific advice as what to change and what not to change.

well, if you dont want errors, then dont edit the game or be extremely careful when doing so.

well i am very careful.....i usually get the errors when i change players during my dynast for example i swithed tim thomas from my team for frye from another and it crashed....also it crashed when i changed salary.

Well, as Andrew said, don't use Excel, but if you did use DB Commander and that's causing errors for you as well, then you could give DBF Viewer 2000 a try. That's the one I'm using, and it hasn't given me any problem for as long as I've had it. Only downside is that editing stuff in it is a bit of a hassle..

As far as trading players, like I said before make sure they don't share the same ROSTERPOS as other players on their new teams.
