Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

For those who are debating on which to get...

Ok, I've been debating between 06 and 2k6 for a while now, and i cant make up my mind. I was leaning towards live, but then i saw people saying the PS2 version isn't good (im getting my game for the PS2). Is the gameplay this year really that bad, or are people just exagerating things. (For those of you who have the game)

Well if you get live get your ice skates out because you'll be doing a lot of skating.
For me live is a mixed bag this year,on one side the superstar controls and the many animations they have in the game are a breath of fresh air. On the other side The skating has really gotten a LOT worst IMO i find myself in the post trying to back someone down,i bump them one then i can run right past them.(All-star difficulty)

The game is just so fast paced it's frustating because you dont have time to set up plays and what not ,but theres barely any plays to call anyways. Aside from that i like the changes that they've made and i find myself playing the all-star weekend stuff more because with the superstar players it's actually worth it.

NBA 2k6 : On the ign review they said its exactly like 2k5 but with a patch and roster update.

I find setting plays and running the point a lot more fun this time around, and actually possible. Ridnour is averaging 11.7 ass over 8 games so far. So that point in moot in my book.

Just bring down the speed slider. Also, if you look in the plays.dbf, you'll find 1059 sets of plays (yes, many are probably duplicates, but you get the idea).

I agree somewhat about the sliding/skating; although I don't find that it hasn't gotten a lot worse. It's still there, but it hasn't gotten worse.

My advice to anyone who's torn is always the same: rent first, buy the one you like best. I always stick with Live out of familiarity, general satisfaction and perhaps loyalty to a certain extent but I know not everyone feels the same way. If in doubt, pay less to rent before paying more to buy.

The last two years I've gotten both. The bad thing about the 2K-series is that it doesn't come out here until february (2K5 came out this April or May, WTF?!).
However I tend to prefer Live over 2K, don't really like the gameplay of 2K plus I don't like the graphics..

yes it has gotten worse. i play on gamespeed 40 to 45 and they are still skating all over the place.

But i never played 2k series , so i wouldn't know. i am too loyal to EA, but if there were another nba sim out there that came close i would consider it after this year.

I don't understand why they didn't first make the 2005 better before they implemented other stuff to it. the animations and the superstar abilities are great, but afer a while they will get normal to yo and the skating gets more and more annoying.
