I give it a 9/10

So far it's been great. I did to Telfair with Ben Wallace what MJ did to Mercer.

The balance of superstar power has been great, and you have to play D to win games (currently 1-7). The matchups the CPU throws up are good too.

The mid range game is excellent and the CPU runs plays designed for their strengths.

It'd be cool though if they had drop down menus instead of scrolling through and also in game saves.

I say 8.5/10
Just because I gave last year an 8 and of course it cant be "worse" and I dont believe its a 9 yet so...

What level of play have you been playing on?

IE Rookie, starter, all star, superstar

because on last years, rookie-all star were all fairly easy, but superstar was tough for me

I'd give it a 5/10 at this stage, i personally rate 2005 as being better.

I play on superstar also, scoring is rediculous, way too high scoring and the superstar freestyle just makes the scoring even worse, i normally use phoenix and stoudemire can just dunk on peoples heads from anywhere, even on superstar.

Way harder to play defense and it doesnt work most of the time anyway.

Maybe once i get around to mucking around with some sliders i'll change my mind but that isn't going to help for online play.

I can't believe some people already rated it without even playing the game.

I don't want to give it a numerical rating just yet but so far I'm quite impressed. Most of the quibbles I could make about gameplay should be solved through sliders since they seem to be speed and frequency issues. (Y)

once you actually learn the tricks of defense (not to gamble for steals, have good help side defense, set traps) then the scoring will go down. That's why i like this game, it's harder than any previous Live. Before o6 the games were simply too easy.

Agreed, this game really forces you play defense and rewards you for doing so.

I've been playing on Starter, i'm trying to get used to the game, and i havent really messed with the sliders.... I bought a new controller and if you guys have played this on PS2, X is usually Pass/Switch and Triangle is Jump... well for some reason when i set the controls, it turns out that the button that is O is Pass and X is Shoot and Triangle is Dunk/Steal... its quite annoying... but nonetheless the game is great, i cant really play defense well thats why i have to score more to actually win... i'll get a hang of it eventually

So my grade = 8.7 at the moment...

you can edit your controller settings in the Settings menu at the front-end of it and save your controller setup file....I had same problem, but since editing it, it now is better (Y)

i agree
in 13 years of my 05 dynasty, playing on superstar for about 12years, i have never been challenged like in 06.

sure, im just getting used to the game and still playing on superstar, but it is alot more fun to have close games, even if i lose.
right now im 3-4, so im better than you matt :P

haha, that's because Billups was out for 4 weeks and i had no 3 point shooter...but now he's back im 4-9 :D

I've been playing better defense lately. Tha hardest thing so far is offense. I'm relying way too much on Rasheed Wallace. It's been challenging to score but I'm getting better.

I think that was the main reason when your record was 1-7. I allways start with starter, rookie is too easy, all shots will fall and you can steal easily, ok, it was like in 05, i don't know how it is in 06.

yeah for example the CPU will run a guy off a screen for an open shot, so you have to chase that dude before he gets off a shot. I just send a big man out since they are pretty mobile.

Another thing i love is that i can play Billups @ SG...in previous Lives he wouldnt be able to get off a shot.
