GREAT IDEA ABOUT THE DUNK CONTEST

Postby platinum_cjb on Sat Jun 18, 2005 4:55 pm

when there done with all the details and the proformance of the game wouldnt it be hella nice if they added features to the dunk contest like:

where amare s. and steve n. did the ally oop thing off his head

or when josh .s jumped over keyon m.

so wut im sayin is that they should like you use objects and probs and people and stuff
and they should let you go further back court
and let other teammates throw you ally's
and give you more time cause i got the video with chris a. and it took him 4ever  lol

so if any1 agrees with me then i guess pick yes and if no then no you get it im sure

They should add freestyle superstar to Dunk Contest. There would be one category called Chris Anderson. And you can all guess what his "special move" would be

Out of interest, how many people still actually play the dunk comp regularly?

I do for 2 reasons

1. testing all-star mod
2. finally got pc controller a few weeks ago (enjoying the freestyle ability now)

these are some ideas of how they could improve the dunk contest

- 2nd player can either lob the ball nash, kmart or mcgrady style or be dunked over by player actually participating in contest.

- props like a ball rack to jump over.

- 2nd ball larry nance style.

1) The 24 second time limit should be optional
2) The same camera angle as they use on tv.
3) Use teammates for alleyoops, to jump over ect.

personally i think the entire time they spent working on the dunk contest was a waste. i much rather them spend time making the game fun and screw the stupid dunk contest.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is no more dunk contest.

For me, the dunk contest is a fun sidegame when I don't really feel like playing a full game but have got some time to kill. Right now, the only changes I'd like to see would be the ability to further customise the contest rules and settings, change the camera angle and perhaps select player jerseys.

I wish they'd take out the shot clock. Every time I play against my friends, I tend to do less ally-oops and more dunks like the between the legs twice dunk. It makes it quite boring doing the same things again. You get punished too hard for experimenting.

Agreed. Further customisation of the format and rules (up to 8 contestants like the old days, the option of having the 24 second clock or not, etc) would be satisfactory improvements.

I think i read somewhere last year that EA said "next year we will try to add extra features like a partner or other things you can jump over" (talking about 2006)

The 24 second limit is the biggest problem I think. I keep on trying to do something cool, but then I miss and then realize that I need to do that double between the legs shit...again..

I still play the game all the time. Mainly updating the rosters and doing Dynasty Mode. While the cheating is annoying, it's still the best basketball game I've played.

One feature that I think they need is an alternate scoring mode for the dunk contest. They should give you teh option of letting it be scored like the Freestyle Dunk off, where there is no set-limit on what you can score. So an off-the-jumbotron-flip-between-the-legs-twice dunk actually scores a lot more than a normal between-the-legs-twice dunk. That would fix most of the problems with 2 player mode also.

i agree with you EGarret i too play it mainly to update rosters and mess around in Dynasty mode. i also agree with you on the scoring option. :mrt:

Dunk Competition gets bored after awhile but I rather focus on game play and other things for now. Good idea though.
