The Music Thread

Postby SkipToMy_Lou on Thu Oct 07, 2004 9:57 pm

Since there is a few thread going around with rap discussion in them. I decided to make this thread. :D

If possible can this thread be stickied?

Allright lets kick of this thread then

Anyone got Jedi Mind Trick's album The Visions of Ghandi?
I just heard of these guys a few days ago and now have 4 of their albums and am amazed by these rappers. There songs have great meaning, which makes you listen closely to every word they say.

Anyone else have any of Jedi Mind Tricks albums? If so post your thoughts.

anyways, I've been listening to R&B lately, at this very moment I'm listening to Reflection Eternal

Can't wait for Nas' joint to drop. I was a bit disappointed with the production on Kwe's B Struggle

Why do people use the word 'joint' instead of album. It just makes them sound faux-ghetto. I have plenty of black friends and they all say album, and they also never say 'cop' as in 'to buy.'

I am also looking forward to the new album by Nas. Visit the Official Site for more info and short clips from 'The Thief's Theme,' 'Bridging the Gap,' and 'You Know My Style.' It is a double-cd by the way.

I completely forgot about that album. The super cool clerk at Sam Goody in Seattle noticed I was buying the old Blackstar album from 98, and said that Talib's album was coming out on this day, and Mos Def's on this day. Then two days later I saw Mos Def on Dave Letterman. The song he performed was alright, not great though.

Who's better, Jurassic 5 or The Roots? They are highly regarded over here.

Whenever i think of The Roots or J5 they both remind me of The Souls of Mischief and The Pharcyde(Does anybody remember "Drop"), all of them raise the bar when it comes to Hip-Hop, they make it all worth while.

oooh, I think Nov 17 (or was it december)...but we get it the same day it's released in the states

P.S The Roots- I think Black Thought needs to get more recognition, he's easily one of the best rappers. He's got real good lyrics and a cool voice

:x :x :x A joint is a name for where two things connect. :x :x :x

The Roots are better than J5 IMO, I do like Blackthought. I guess I'll probably get that Cormega album for my birthday.

i seen the roots and j5 both in concert and the roots definately have the better live set.
both are good artists but the roots live set hands down is jus 2 notches above most of the hiphop acts out these days.

My brother brought the album yesterday, and I really haven't listened to it at all hardly (exams started yesterday, and have my maths exam tommorow). But album sounds good so far, probably the best songs are Suicide Bounce which features Ludacris, Bridging the Gap is a pretty interesting song feats his father.

Overall, after listening to his album a little I'll say that its proabably his best album since Illmatic.
