***YOU MUST READ!!! I think NBA LIVE 2003 WAS REALISTIC!!!

yeah.
I finished my Nba Live 2003 season 3 days ago. I won the Championship with the Philadelphia 76ers.
I started the season in March. Downloaded DK's roster from "www.nba-live.com".This is a very good roster. It means: I get very realistic stats.
Because it is very important for me. (70-110 pts, 40-50 % fg, 40,50 rebounds,10-15 steal, 20-25 ast / game)
And DK's dbf file "can" these things. So I begun my "82 game" season at all-star level, 11 min quarters.
I wanted to play realistic games: not too much dunk, not all point from the paint, and I don't wanted to Win all of my 82 games :-)
For the first step I edited the teams dbf. I changed the HOMEADV: --> wich team has higher rating, that team win more home games.
( Understand ???:-))) (Sorry for my English )
So. ex: Spurs has 5000,Dallas 4500,Milwaukee 500,Clevelad has -2000 etc, etc, means the Spurs have bigger chance to finishe the season at the first place.

Second step: I reorder the team rosters.

And STARTED THE 2002-2003 season.

And a very important thing: I set the opponent teams offensive strategy.
in the "strategy -- offensive strategy" menu I changed from DYNAMIC to ex.BALLSCREEN, MOTION etc.
I knewn, which strategy belong to the teams. (Indiana: Ballscreen,Detroit: Motion etc.)
Therefore the opponent players didn't shoot the 80 % of their shots from the paint, didn't attempted 30 threepointer / game.
So it was realistic.
But I must played realistic too. That was the most important. Don't run & dunk, run, run ,like a neurotic man :-)
I must looked for the shooting situations, the free players, who can shoot a jumpshot. like in a real NBA GAME.
And it works. If you want to play real, it works !!!

I played easy and very hard matches. Stand from 15 points disadvantage, or lost the game from 10 points advantage.
Like in the real life, I used Allen Iverson very much to "win the game".
Snow was a tipical point guard, with his assists, Coleman and Thomas made the defensive-game, grabbed 10-15 rebound.
And the bench players work hard too. Mckie or Greg Buckners performance was unbeliavable.
They can win the game, when Iverson or Van Horn had a "bad day".
But when Iverson had "good days", he was unstoppable .
Like vs the Nets, he scored a season high 47 point.

( And I always watched the real boxscores at "www.nba.com", and play those players, who played real in the match.
When Van Horn was injured, I took him to the injured list.) (All for the realistic games) :-)))

Sixers lowest point game: Phi- Was: 75- 73

Sixers worst fg%: vs. Detroit: 35 % (84-88 for the detroit)
Sixers best fg%: vs Orlando & New York( 102-98, 112-111 for the Sixers)

And I had very much good match.
ex:
Entire Game Atlanta Philadelphia

Points 81 84
Bench Scoring 21 18
Field Goals 33/74 36/80
Field Goal % .446 .450
3 Point FG 2/9 2/9
3 Point % .222 .222
Free Throws 13/15 10/17
Free Throw % .867 .588
Rebounds 37 41
Off. Rebounds 8 12
Def. Rebounds 29 29
Blocks 7 2
Steals 12 8
Assists 19 24
Turnovers 21 16
Fouls 22 10

Entire Game Philadelphia Chicago

Points 99 97
Bench Scoring 36 20
Field Goals 40/89 35/71
Field Goal % .449 .493
3 Point FG 9/25 2/7
3 Point % .360 .286
Free Throws 10/21 25/36
Free Throw % .476 .694
Rebounds 46 34
Off. Rebounds 16 7
Def. Rebounds 30 27
Blocks 2 8
Steals 13 19
Assists 29 20
Turnovers 23 18
Fouls 23 19

Buckners BUZZER BEATER !!!

etc,etc,etc.

And Sixers made 56- 26 in the regular season.
MVP: DUNCAN( like real)
Best team: Spurs

In the playoffs the first team,which I played was the Hornets(like real).Sixers won 3-0)
The 2nd round: Detroit (like real) Sixers won: 4-0)
3rd round: Indian. Sixers won 4-2.
Final: Spurs (They were in the finals,like real) Sixers won: 4-1
Finals MVP: Allen Iverson, who was unstoppable in the last game: he made only 14 point(6/31 fg= 19,4 %),
but grabbed 13 rebound, dished 15 ast and stolen 9 ball !!!!!!!!!!! HE IS THE BEST.

Oh: In the regular season:
Phila fg% is 44,9 %(Real. 44,8)
Rebounds:44, real: 42)

SO at the end I think, if you want to play realistic games, you must play realistically.
Don't always run & dunk or shoot 3pointers, when 3 defenders stand in front of you.
You have 24 second to find out a real action. And the defense is the most important thing.

I had a big season in Live 2003, and I'm waiting for LIVE 2004 !!!

Once again: Sorry for my English :-))

I like the game as well.

FG in season 1 was 47%, in season 2 50...record 1: 19-9.
Record 2: 20-8.

1st season:

Game 28 @ 76ers: 99-01;
Game 27 vs. Pacers: 107-76;
Game 26 vs. Pistons: 120-109;
Game 25 vs. Rockets: 91-87;
Game 24 vs. Kings: 100-98;
Game 23 vs. Magic: 118-88;
Game 22 vs. Lakers: 91-90;
Game 21 @ Timberwolves: 100-105;
Game 20 vs. Celtics: 104-94;
Game 19 @ Trailblazers: 91-96;
(2 months break)
Game 18 @ Bucks: 105-90;
Game 17 @ Bulls: 102-92;
Game 16 @ Nets: 102-105;
Game 15 vs. Clippers: 105-93;
Game 14 @ Mavericks: 96-109;
Game 13 vs. Grizzlies: 96-86;
Game 12 @ Nuggets: 94-86;
Game 11 vs. Sonics: 100-99;
Game 10 @ Warriors: 100-98;
Game 9 @ Suns: 83-102;
Game 8 @ Hornets: 94-86;
Game 7 vs. Hawks: 90-100;
Game 6 @ Spurs: 103-99;
Game 5 vs. Jazz: 103-88;
Game 4 vs. Raptors: 107-99;
Game 3 @ Cavs: 98-104;
Game 2 vs. Wizards: 112-105;
Game 1 @ Heat: 90-106;

How I play:
Ea Sports' NBA Live 2003 for PC;
Allstar, shotcontrol: CPU, 4x9 minutes, tweaked NLSC-roster, using DK's tweaks;
Injuries off, fatigue on, fouls ten steps from the left, foulout: 5;
Freethrows are manually done, although I made 65 of the first 68, which is 95.6 %. I regard it as a compensation for the computer cheating concerning steals and FG% when he is behind in the third or fourth quarter.
In order to achieve a more realistic shot selection, I let the computer play sets, set 1 in the first quarter, set two in the second, dynamic in the third and set 1 again in the final quarter. Thanks to Urotsukidoji for this! The sets each team uses can be found -> here.
Franchise, 28 games / season, random schedule; playoffs are simulated; simulated games: 4x12 minutes;

Each season, up to two free agents can be signed, additionally, two trade-actions (1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 3-2...) can be carried out; if a player is acquired in any way (as a rookie, free agent or via trade), he has to stay for the entire season.

I substitute manually, for me it is important that backups also get their chance on the court. A starter should average between 20 and 26 minutes per game, I don't like having a player play 30 minutes or even the whole game like the computer often does.

I use my own injuries, throwing a dice (12 sides) for each player before a game. Throwing a 12 means that he is injured. The injuries are as below:

a) 1-11: no injury;
b) 12: injured;

In case of an injury (again a dice is thrown):
b1) 1-6: player injured for one game;
b2) 7-12: player injured for more games;

In case of b2 (again a dice is thrown):
b2a) 1-6: slight injury;
b2b) 7-12: severe injury;

Slight injury (again a dice is thrown):
Player injured for ... games: 1-4=2; 5-8=3; 9-12=4;

Severe injury (again a dice is thrown):
Player injured for ... games: 1=5; 2=6; 3=7; .... --> 4 is added to the result of the dice;
up to 11=15; 12=16;

Injured players must not be traded or released. When a player comes back to the active roster after an injury, he automatically is fit for the next game, without having to throw the dice.

As players were injured very often, I slightly changed the rules after game 13: every new injury can be called off. A dice is thrown, 1, 2, 3 and 4 mean that the player is not injured and can remain on the active roster.

I finished two seasons, have all the stats but need much time to enter all stats...i don't want to use that ugly-looking txt created by the game, I have lots of HTML-files and edit all the stats manually.
