Sim mode an sixth man

Postby macbit on Fri Nov 22, 2002 7:26 am

Hey

i try to sim 2 season and what i see is...ugly...

The key sub bench players have 10 -12 min playing time.
And the the six man of the year 11 min playing time with low stats.

That is stupid..

There are some old bugs like nba 2001
I ask me really what had ea do the hole year ????

One thing is cristal clear for me: This is my last NBA version, until there is big improvment overall in the game.

It is a bug I think.

I simmed a season in franchise mode and what happened? Duncan was most improved player, scoring 22 ppg...but well, he did this last season as well...

and even worse, 6th man became one guy with 3.2 ppg and 5.6 mpg -> ????

I think the game mades an extension of the numbers to 48 mpg and calculate the 6th man.

Maybe EA programmers doesn't know anything about "real" Basketball as they show in soccer (Fifa Soccer series)

LOL Duncan was most impoved man in mine too. How hard is this. If the player averaged like 8 pts last seaon, and 20+ the next THEN he should be MIP. Not someone who consistantly averaged 20+. And t top it off Tim Had a worst year then previously with 21 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 1.7 bpg

Also the 6th man in my season was Jamie Fiek. This young man averaged 2.2ppg, nd 1.8 rpg in 4.7 min...Yuck!

And to top THE SEASON AWARD bugs. The rookie of the year was Jared Jeffries...Who averaged 6.8ppg, & 4.2 rpg. I thought to my self, hey maybe all rookies sucked! Well Lok & behold on the Rookie Team Yao Ming averaed 13ppg, 7rpg, & 1.2 bpg, and was the best rokie on the team.

Other on the team were Jeffries, Jay Will - 9.0ppg, 5.6apg, 2.2spg, not to mention with better stats then Jeffries, Ryan Humpfries & Caron Butler.

AT least in Live 2001 they got Rookies right!

I've franchised ahead a few years and have seen such stunning developments as a season where three rookies averaged 20 ppg and a guy who spent the season on the bench was rookie of the year. I've seen Feick win three straight 6th man awards, even when the Lakers signed Tim Duncan as free agent for the minimum after I had shifted him to centre so he spent the season on the bench behind Shaq. I had the Raptors win 58 gmaes and go to the finals with Vince scoring 26 a game and he's no even on the mvp watch, but AI scores 32 a game for a sixers team that won 22 games and he's on that list. At least the all-rookie team takes the 5 best rookies instead of one from each position.

I think EA's development cycle goes like this:
1st month: don't bother to patch previous game
9 months: make new graphics engine from scratch, totally ignoring any resources, textures, mo-caps, etc, you could recycle to save time
11th month: shoehorn in the franchise mode from 3 years ago that nobody liked anyways. Rate every player like a superstar and release on consoles.
12th month: release on pc without even bothering to up the resolution or shrink the fonts in the front end, so that you even have to scroll down to see last place divisional teams. Give it even less mouse functionality than previous versions (what, double click on a column to sort it, who would want to do that when they've got that niffty "sort column" button cluttering up the bottom of the screen.
Do it again next year. Spend money on Marv Albert instead of payng five or six more programmers.

Hey,

i totally agree with you.

The hole franchise mode is a joke.
There is a other thing for....

after 2 mouth of playing time the franchise now shortly for the allstar game.
I looking at the ohter roster and was really laughing, about the trade that the cpu had done:
Some teams with 4 center but only 2 frontcourt players as backup also i seen only one
backup frontcourt pllayer.
By this team i check up the playing time from the backup i believe it was a pg . Normally
i thing 25 min. or more.

If i saw the stats and i break up......9 min. playing time.....

no comment..
