How to edit ratings with Excel?

Well, I know how...but how can I decrease the FG of ALL players by 10 without having to change it some hundred times?

It would be terribly exhausting...too much work.

I would advise against using Excel to edit the DBF. Excel is notorious for corrupting DBF files, if they are incorrectly saved. Use a DBF editor such as DB Commander.

The NBA Live 2001 Toolkit works with NBA Live 2003. If you have MS Access 2000 or 97, you can use the Live 2001 Toolkit. It has a "MegaModifier" feature that allows you to globally edit ratings.

I have edited with Excel. I am using the '95 version.
As long as you don't change the field sizes and save as a dbase 4 file, it should work fine.

Yes, it is possible, but more often than not errors occur. It is much safer to use a DBF editor.

As yet there are no errors. I will let you know if I encounter any. HOWEVER... I have found that most of the time the problems you are speaking of are due to user error. Although some of them may be a result of the version used...

Correct, they usually are the fault of the user, if they do not follow correct procedure or are using another version of Excel as you also mentioned - Excel 97 seems to always corrupt the file. That's why I say DBF editors are safer, because there is less chance of the casual user causing errors when edting the DBF.

I understand what you are saying Andrew. But my post on this topic was merely an answer to the question at hand which dealt with how to edit with Excel. It was not an invitation to debate the finer points of using Excel versus a database editor. Why are you taking it that way?
Of course if I am reading you wrong then just let me know.

By the way thanks for the info of DBFcommander. That might come in handy since I don't have Access '97 or 2000.
