New NBA Live Junk Website --- New jersey patches added

Postby Cameron on Fri Aug 22, 2003 12:30 am

Hey everybody!!!! I know I've been asleep for pretty well all summer here. Because I bought a new graphics card, and it didn't work, and I spent all this time trying to fix it, and ended up having to send it back anyway, and now I'm back where I started with my old Radeon 7000 :(

Anyhoo, web1000 was being stupid and we were doing a site redesign anyway so we decided to switch servers! Now there is a NEW NBA LIVE JUNK and it's better than Ever!!!! Better looking, better organized, etc. Worth a bookmark! and with the addition of Superman's patches its gonna have a whole lot of stuff. We're still in the process of uploading all patches, making all the pages, etc. So a lot of the links don't work. But it's still real great. So go there, vote in the poll, try out the forum, etc.

BTW, if any of you are going to our old forum, you will find its not there anymore! OOops, my bad  I was trying to move its database to the new forum's location and accidentally deleted it. Furtermore, I'm not having any luck getting the old forum's messages/users up to the new forum. So all you people that were there will have to reregister, sorry! Im re-registering some myself too. I'm also going to recreate a few of the topics that were active when I deleted the old forum. If when you go to the site you find the forum link doesn't work just keep checking because I'm probably going to have it up sometime today.

So anyway, check er out, thanks! (You can post comments here too)

Well we thought .org was a good site so we used its organizing system as a base. But most of its new :D

if this weren't the internet, you'd have to pay royalties

the only changes to the format I noticed are the logo and the background...and those little orange things on the news posts

That ain't right...at least change the font

I like the scroll down headline thing, though

The thumbs up and down had me confused, though...I thought it was like some rating thing or something...triangular arrows wouldn't be a bad idea

Hey thanks for the comments:)

And BTW, we just used it as a base for organization... nothing else. And I do believe Larry did change the font, I kept telling him how it looked too close but i got other peoples opinions and they said it was very different etc... and anyhoo there are like gazillions of websites that look the same so im not too worried. And our download section pages are like totally different i think. Although I do give tons of props to .org!!!!

Anyhoo, its still under design so we can keep on changing stuff to make it look better;)

About the thumbs up stuff (we had it on the old site too) I think Larry made a navigational help page for people confused, but hes at drivers ED today like all day so he hasn't had a chance to upload it yet...

PLus, don't shoot the messenger about the .org stuff, larry designed it! lol

Keep the comments a coming, im writin them down:D

Yeah but if you think about it, you should make a website so that people don't need to use of those. Especially for a patching site where you know people that go there have been around the internet a bit. If they're there at all, it should be as a formality

And yeah I noticed the menu's too...but come on haha

I was making websites back when homesite had just come out and was in version 1 and was nothing but code...so I guess I'm kinda oldschool. I always hated it when I saw websites with the same format.

I don't mean to sound mean, but just one question:

Our first site was totally original. But it was hard to get around, and wasn't too nice looking. So we redesigned it using .org's layout as a base, and now its much more organized and better looking and easier to find stuff. Would you rather an original but difficult site or a slightly borrowed but much more convenient site? I think I'd take the latter anyday.

And its not like we just took .ORG and put our stuff in it.

And about the arrows, yeah i see where you're going with that. But its larry, the guy's insane i tells ya! INSANE!!! :P

oh and BTW, Larry hardcodes everything himself. Ain't no web design tool or nothing.. I think he uses frontpages coder thingy because its colour coded, but hand him notepad and it would look just the same. He knows I wouldnt let him use a designer thing because as a C++ Programmer, I hard code Everything:D

well I don't know what you site looked like before so I wouldn't be able to tell you...I'm just saying I'm not a big fan of sites that look alike

But it's your website and if you're happy with the change and people like it, then who cares what I think :)

FEI we coded this from scratch... didnt just use .org as a base, used some other sites too, but if people think it looks too much alike I'll take it down right now, this is making me sad because we have spent a lot of time on it... please give me input here...

lol don't take it down, man....like you said it's not even done yet so keep up with the improvements

there were plenty of positive responses towards it, so there's no reason to take it down :)
